Shaun seemed like a very good guy and I'm sad to see him go so suddenly like this. I didn't know him as well as some others, but he'd been kicking around these parts for a few years at least. A couple of weeks ago he asked me to fill up his portable hard drive with music because he'd lost all of his and he was going to open a new bar, a hole in the wall sort of place for people to hang out, drink beer, and listen to punk rock or indie rock type stuff of the sort that he was into. He'd been involved with music in the US, gone on tour with bands and stuff like I had. Anyways, it wouldn't have been a get rich quick scheme but it sounded pretty cool to me. I got about 200 - 250 gigs on there for him, and I dropped it off with a mutual friend, and then I heard he'd never been around to pick it up so I inquired after him because you never know in Cambodia. But I guess this happened just recently because other people had talked to him in the last couple of days. So I was surprised to hear yesterday that he was relatively okay, only to hear about this today, having gone down in the interim. Well, anyways, I thought he was a nice guy and I liked talking music with him. RIP.
PS: I clicked the 2 more photos link dreading what the Khmer news establishment may have gotten a hold of and printed, but thankfully it's just the exterior of the building.

Yes, he was on overstay. He lived on a Military Pension and had been using his monthly allowance to set up his new bar. He was planning o sorting the overstay at end of month. I've known him here for four years.

I guess this sheds a little light on why this dude was running around with 1-year passport.Jackal wrote:Yes, he was on overstay. I knew that guy, that's a real shame. RIP>
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Please- Shaun Bowden (aka Sean Perrigo and Oblivion Bar) was my brother.
We were just notified by US Embassy this morning. If any of you knew him or had contact with
Him in the past few weeks, PLEASE share your stories of encounters!
He died of natural causes. We are saddened and will miss him (been missing him back in the USA).
They did not find any personal property in his apartment. He was an avid music lover, took tons of digital pictures, and wrote a lot. If any of you know where he might have stored his journals, laptop, digital camera, or have photos to share, please let me know. My email is [email protected]
We will be bringing his remains back to the USA.
RIP Brother- hope your utopia has an awesome punk bar!
Korey

Unfortunately, they were probably all stored in his apartment. The police have a reputation of not recovering personal property of the deceased.Nkhender wrote: They did not find any personal property in his apartment...If any of you know where he might have stored his journals, laptop, digital camera, or have photos to share, please let me know.
Sorry for your loss, but it sounds like you're well aware he lived a fun life out here!
RIP
