Sihanoukville.
-A DUI Canadian man suffered serious head injuries when he crashed his Honda Air Blade into the terrace of the 2 Lions Roundabout in Sihanoukville.
-The accident occurred at 1:20 am of the 1st of August, 2013, at the 2 Lions Roundabout, located in Village 4, Ekreach Street, Commune 4, Sihanoukville.
-According to motodop and tuk tuk drivers stationed there, they saw the victim riding his moto from Poy Ta Mong towards the 2 Lions Roundabout, gloriously drunk and whooping it up with his shirt tied around the front fairing of his moto. Factoring in his drunken state, the hilly street he was riding down and the light rain that was falling, the victim was caught off guard by the sudden roundabout, and was unable to brake in time to avoid riding into it. The victim suffered head injuries after he was thrown off his bike and knocked out senseless. His bike lost both its wheels. Immediately, the witnesses called for an ambulance.
-Lieutenant Colonel Prom Pov, Chief of the Land Traffic Police Department of the Kampong Som Provincial Police, identified the victim as ATHERTON, DOUG SCOTT, a 50 year old Canadian, residing in Village 3, Commune 4, Sihanoukville. He was riding an unlicensed black Honda Air Blade and heading north to south, from the Poy Ta Mong Tourism Pier at Ocheteal Beach towards Psar Leu Market in Sihanoukville. He suffered head injuries, his right big toe was ripped away (ដាច់ម្រាមមេជើងខាងស្តាំ with no qualifier like ចេញ, may or may not necessarily mean completely ripped off. Picture, however, shows it still attached), and his moto lost its front wheel.
-The victim is currently being attended to in the Reasmey Kompong Som Clinic in Sihanouk Province. As for his moto, it is being held at the Land Traffic Police Department of the Kampong Som Provincial Police, where it shall remain until the victim recovers and claims it.
