Some 100 staff at Cambodia’s war crimes court for former Khmer Rouge leaders went on strike over unpaid wages today in a fresh blow to the UN-backed body.
The tribunal’s 250 Cambodian workers, including judges and prosecutors, have not been paid since June, amid cash shortages and delays that caused United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday to appeal for international donors to step in.
KR war crimes court apparently sucks at paying their bills..

and in May I read that they hadn't been paid since January.andyinasia wrote:In fact they haven't been paid since May.
There was an article in Phnom Penh post saying that UN, EU and whoever else provided all the funding needed and that the rest was supposed to come from Cambodian government, but Cambodian government's reply was: well we don't have the money, so we need more funding from western countries
It's a complete and utter disgrace: The "World Body" demonstrating "ethical" behavior as an employer to third world country employees.
Those responsible should be put in front of a firing squad, no further questions asked.

I'd say the "World Body" has stumped up enough. Not only do the Cambo government not pay their way; a certain deputy PM creams off a substantial part of all Khmer employees salaries.

I am sure all of the foreigners involved are still getting paid their ridiculously high salaries + living expenses though. I asked an English women I met who is employed by the UN at the ECCC, what her actual job entailed, her reply was "fuck all to be honest, but the allowances and living expenses are excellent and make having to live in this shite hole worthwhile".
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
