I have read some FB messages which suggest Udo is a free man.scobienz wrote:Given he's been in custody since June 2015, that likely means he will be free very soon.

That makes sense. His sentence would have meant he only had another couple of months to serve.
His FB page has a couple of recent posts.

Udo was arrested earlier this week for not having a valid visa and will be deported back to Germany as soon as possible. Where was he arrested: you guessed it: Golden Home Guesthouse on Street 172.
Evidently his passport either expired or was cancelled while he was in prison.

Anybody keeping count?the arrest was made after receiving information from Germany consular officials
- The US embassy ratted out Eric Erdmann
- The UK embassy ratted out Greg Fryatt
- The German embassy ratted out Udo Theodor

"Revoked" according to the cited Khmer Times articlescobienz wrote:Evidently his passport either expired or was cancelled while he was in prison.
In the cases of Erdmann and Theodor (I don't know the details of Fryatt), they not only ratted on them, but helped create the violation that they then informed the police about.Alexandra wrote:Anybody keeping count?the arrest was made after receiving information from Germany consular officials

We need to keep a tally on addresses used by paedos, just to see if landlords are involved. God knows, no one else will do it.scobienz wrote:Where was he arrested: you guessed it: Golden Home Guesthouse on Street 172.
ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.

The PPP is reporting that APLE has said he is facing similar charges in Germany where there is an outstanding arrest warrant.

Yes, could very well be, but what I find interesting is that instead of extraditing him on those or whatever charges, the embassy creates a situation in which he is deported for other reasons (by first revoking his passport then dropping a dime on him for not having a passport,) similar to what the Americans did to Erdmann. Seems to be a new pattern here, a foreign embassy and the Cambodian cops orchestrating a deportation together, which avoids the messiness (and perhaps lack of a treaty) of extradition. Or is this not a new technique?scobienz wrote:The PPP is reporting that APLE has said he is facing similar charges in Germany where there is an outstanding arrest warrant.LTO wrote:"Revoked" according to the cited Khmer Times articlescobienz wrote:Evidently his passport either expired or was cancelled while he was in prison.

Sergei Polonsky's lawyers claimed that his passport and visa were both valid but that the visa was invalidated as preparation of the arrest. Emphasis added below.LTO wrote:Yes, could very well be, but what I find interesting is that instead of extraditing him on those or whatever charges, the embassy creates a situation in which he is deported for other reasons (by first revoking his passport then dropping a dime on him for not having a passport,) similar to what the Americans did to Erdmann. https://www.cambodiadaily.com/archives/ ... sia-83798/Military police arrested Mr. Polonsky along with at least five of his associates on Koh Damlong – one of eight islands he owns off the coast of Sihanoukville – on Friday. Police said that Mr. Polonsky had an expired visa, a claim his lawyer rejected.
https://www.cambodiadaily.com/archives/ ... ion-83773/Benson Samay, another of Mr. Polonsky’s lawyers, said his client had a valid visa, and was actually arrested due to an extradition request from Moscow.
“I suspect his arrest was involved with the extradition case. It is not reasonable that his arrest was due to an expired visa, because his visa was done on October 31, 2014, and it will expire on November 6, 2015,” Mr. Samay said.
