True, as long as the definition of stability doesn't include an opposition leader not in exile or jail.pedros wrote:http://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/h ... -stability

Here's my prediction.
CPP will stay in power in 2018. No surprises there.
HE will either get sick or voluntarily pass on the riengs to his son Samdech Hun Manet, probably in the last two years to 12 months of his rule.
HM will slowly make changes within CCP getting rid of the old and bring in new young(er) generals (and retiring the bloated ranks) and poiticians, with more females. His emphasis will be on people with overseas education, a stab at KR maybe. Who knows. (If you wear glasses you get to become a three star!)
He will still be in the shadow and under the tutelage of his father so it'll be a slow process but Cambodia will enter a more democratic sustainable period within 10 years.
HM is the future. (With help from HE)

Good thing HM graduated from West Point and NY University, thus learning the evil ways of the third hand.Playboy wrote:This started after the last election, abet slowly but several changes have already been made 8n this directionYaTingPom wrote:Here's my prediction.

As long as you can get a coke with ice, and are allowed to use reading glasses, I'm good.
A good business environment is key of course, as I have plans to expand on that in the near future,
including hiring local talent to help service my clients abroad.

I'm pretty sure West Point is in NY state. HM never went to another uni in the US but did go to a Bristol uni.offroadscholar wrote:Good thing HM graduated from West Point and NY University, thus learning the evil ways of the third hand.Playboy wrote:This started after the last election, abet slowly but several changes have already been made 8n this directionYaTingPom wrote:Here's my prediction.

" He also received his Master of Arts in Economics from New York University in 2002, and a PhD in Economics from University of Bristol, United Kingdom, in 2008." ........if https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hun_Manet is correctYaTingPom wrote:I'm pretty sure West Point is in NY state. Ok I stand corrected.
Either way he is one of a few who are overseas educated.

There are plenty of overseas educated Khmers in the ruling party, HE has made a point of surrounding himself with them for decades.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Is there a sarcasm smiley?
I shall call him "Sailorman II".

Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Dr Hang Chuon Naron did his doctorate in Moscow. Education Ministry spokesman Ros Salin did his master’s at the University of Lyon.
Keat Chhon, former minister of Economics and Finance, has two degrees from France, Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namnong has a Master’s degree from a French university.
Ing Kuntha Phavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs, has a master’s and doctorate from France.
Kong Som Ol, Minister of the Royal Palace, has a US degree.
Etc...
