Stung Treng: A court is enforcing a case involving eight suspects arrested on Jan. 7, 2018 on a number of offenses close to the Cambodia - Laos border.
Stung Treng Provincial Court of Arbitration Department officials confirmed that the eight suspects were caught by the 283rd Infantry Division under the intervention brigade 128 units of the garrison, part 1, cooperatingwith border policemen 56 and 57, cutting and transporting wood out of Siam Park (?).
Siv Samet, head of the Royal Gendarmerie of Royal Institution of Police, said that during the operation, the police force found suspects involved in the case. Three crimes were being committed at the same time, including the storage and use of illegal weapons, the use and distribution of narcotics and illegal logging.
Police arrested the suspects, and seized a "Land Cruiser" 1995, an AK47, a rifle, ammunition, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, 2 chainsaws, 3 motorbikes, 12 pieces of wood, Khmer Riel, US $ 500.00 and 6 million Kip.
After arresting the above suspects, law enforcement officials of the provincial military police questioned the suspects at the provincial military police headquarters and have forwarded the case file for prosecution atthe Stung Treng court. Currently, the eight suspects are in detention.
