Khmer TimesPrime Minister Hun Sen promoted his son-in-law to deputy chief of the National Police on Tuesday.
Lieutenant General Dy Vichea, in charge of the central security department, is the son of late National Police chief Hok Lundy and the premier’s son-in-law.
He is married to Mr Hun Sen’s daughter Hun Mana, director general of Bayon TV.
Meanwhile, King Norodom Sihamoni issued a royal decree on Wednesday promoting another senior officer in the National Police.
General Pen Vibol also takes up the role of deputy chief of the National Police, in charge of the personnel department.
Gen Vibol yesterday said he had served in the National Police since 1992 and was very thankful to have been promoted through its ranks.

No doubt it was a highly competitive selection process. I'm sure he was more qualified than the other applicants. It goes to show that hard work pays off in the end. The local population can sleep soundly knowing the best man for the job is officially Deputy Chief of Police.
