Perhaps naively thought AJ would be as friendly as FreshNews and Khmer Times.
Sure. There has been no such investigative journalism allowed in Cambodia so he didn't see those confrontational questions coming. But as far as the domestic audience goes, he doesn't care one bit. He has nothing to fear as long as he is loyal to HE, and he doesn't see anything he has done as remotely questionable anyway. He is following his orders. The only possible blowback Vibol Kong and those like him can face is external pressure from Western countries, if they can be bothered anymore. It's not the the Chinese give a shit.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote:Perhaps naively thought AJ would be as friendly as FreshNews and Khmer Times.
Is he the owner of that house between the BKK market and MST? It’s like a commercial building with 8 or 10 floors. I was told years ago that it belonged to the chief of the tax department.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Interesting how this has been picked up and shared by many Khmers on social media, usually particularly focusing on the interview with KV.
also LL is correct about the ownership of that megolith building - land alone must be worth tens of millions.

I though that headline was rather misleading. There's no indication that anyone is actually planning to charge him.

Enter the expensive lawyers. They can even get you off a murder charge. His defence could well be that his English was not very good, so he misunderstood the question on the company registration form.
As far as the Cambodian petroleum business tax scandal is concerned he doesn't even have to worry a tiny bit about it.
One would presume that the same sort of thing has been going on in America and Europe, and it reminded me that the sanctions against individual property and businesses would likely be having some effect.

The Khmer Times is on top of this, and all relevant questions have been answered:
Clearing the air over corruption allegations
The GDT even posted the link on their Facebook page, and paid to sponsor the post to show up in people’s feeds.
