Australian Nicholas Gregory Dixon jumped to his death in SHV
CNE reported that Australian Nicholas Gregory Dixon jumped to his death from a window at “Gobo East” casino hotel last week.
My understanding is that he was a local expat, and played with the local Aussie rules football club. Apparently his father (and possibly others) were there with him, when he just decided to make a run for it and jumped. They tried to grab him and save him, but it was too late and he fell. Very terrible.
The rumor is that he was a "professional" gambler (poker?), and had recently won about $30k, which was in the casino safe/bank or something. As soon as he died that money disappeared.

The family must rue letting him slip through their fingers to play his last hand.Miguelito wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 10:08 amCNE reported that Australian Nicholas Gregory Dixon jumped to his death from a window at “Gobo East” casino hotel last week.

Sorry but that's not funny, his elderly father literally tried to hold on to him as he jumped is my understanding. As a father, I can't imagine what that must feel like. I met him on one of those AFL trips, he seemed like a very friendly and happy guy, degree from a top Aussie Uni & a Rainman-esque talent for cards. Sadly another case showing the narrow line between genius & mental issues which I believe the family knew he had - I certainly didn't pick it up talking over dinner with him & the AFL team. RIP.kinard wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 10:45 amThe family must rue letting him slip through their fingers to play his last hand.Miguelito wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 10:08 amCNE reported that Australian Nicholas Gregory Dixon jumped to his death from a window at “Gobo East” casino hotel last week.

Yes, I admit that was bad form.
Apologies.
Apologies.

always awkward to judge, I'll admit I'm pretty bad at jumping in these American mass shooting threads with little empathy for Americans in general, or my contribution of "West Life" to Vlad's post obviously would be hideous to anyone close to those victims too.
I just know a few of the AFL folks also read these forums and would be much closer than me, I only met him once.

RIP.
There was a story this week from Madagascar about a young British woman who just opened the door of a light airplane and jumped out at 3500 feet. They’ve still not recovered her body.
“They” (media) are blaming malaria tablets but she may have had a mental issue she’d hidden for years. Sad.

I read his first quote as meaning, he can't imagine what it would be like to have your son's hand in yours desperately trying to hold on so he doesn't fall to his death, but being unable to keep a grip and having to ... (no need to finish). I can't imagine either.
The second quote is just about being psycho. psycho doesn't need to mean suicidal and it doesn't really relate at all to the first quote. Am I missing something in your thought process, Alexandra? What's the connection to you?

A self proclaimed psychopath claiming to not be able to imagine a feeling is a tad no shit. Psychopaths are incapable of feeling emotions and it's usually how they're diagnosed. If the gentleman truly is psycho then he is merely pretending to feel to fit in.
