Here's an article or two from a relatively proper newspaper.

I used to work for a fund management company, but thanks for the fascinating read. I still don’t know what it has to do with whatever point you’re trying to make.
I’m guessing it’s something to do with the fact that investments people hold might be in companies you disapprove of.
I’m terribly sorry. Please advise me what you would have me do with savings built up over 25 years of hard work and self sacrifice, and I’ll surely do whatever it takes to make you happy.

Oh dear, I was worried what was meant by "green". Sure, he should just invest in solar panel companies that absolutely don't have any toxins involved anywhere in their production, electronics that are totally environmentally clean and totally don't have any rare toxic metals extracted by desperate peasants in DRC. Maybe he should just buy shares in Goop. I hear their vaginal egg is sourced from a women's co-operative in the Shan States.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

From the article:
Where do they get their money from?
You, most likely. If you make pension contributions every month or have invested personal savings, it is likely that this money ends up with an asset manager via your pension provider.

As much as I agree with you that rare metals used in electronics are destroying a lot of lives through conflicts and that they are also polluters, a vast amount of greenhouse gases come from carbon based fossil fuels and are effecting the whole ecosystem. The article i linked to says just how much certain companies are involved in increasing greenhouse emissions, instead of supposedly reducing them. That asset managers are putting Spicey's money into companies which are lobbying to increase fossil fuel consumption and deny climate change .Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 12:23 amOh dear, I was worried what was meant by "green". Why are they still investing in fossil fuel companies?
The simple answer is because they make money.
Publicly listed fossil fuel companies remain among the most profitable companies in the world, so if you invest in an index tracker fund, like millions of people do, they will be there. You will get Apple, Google and Facebook, as well as ExxonMobil and Chevron.
The three biggest asset management companies; BlackRock, Vanguard and State Street are putting hundreds of billions into fossil fuel companies.
According to research about the three largest, the combined fossil fuel portfolio of BlackRock, Vanguard and State Street is $286bn. The figure came from analysing 1,712 funds run by BlackRock, Vanguard and State Street to determine their holdings in the 299 companies that control 95% of global fossil fuel reserves and production run by publicly listed companies.
These holdings can also be expressed in terms of potential CO2 emissions in coal, oil and gas reserves. These have increased by 17% above the rate at which money has flowed into the funds since 2016. At BlackRock potential CO2 emissions are up 5%, at State Street 23% and at Vanguard 28% when controlling for fund inflows.

Well of course it fucking does. What’s the issue?
I put money into pension funds for my future. They buy shares and manage my investments on my behalf because that is their job and I don’t have the time or expertise to do it myself. For that, they receive a management fee. They hold my savings in trust. It’s still my bloody money.
It’s not rocket science.

Can someone help me out here? Cos I’m fucked if I know what his point is.
Are you outraged that I pay fees to a company for the services they provide me?
Or outraged that they invest in companies you don’t like on my behalf?
Or outraged that I have funds to invest?

Not sure what I'm reading now. I have experience with asset managers (hedge funds, retirement funds, etc.) but can't tell if that is what the topic is here.
