Good afternoon all,
I've been riding thumpers for a while now and wanted to switch to a 2-stroke. The bike is mainly going to be used for weekend trail blazing, the occassional enduro to Kirrirom and maybe a few enduro cross races.
I came across as KDX 200 with a kx fork conversion (dont know if its from a KX125 or a 250). The price seems ok (around 2000), but needs a bit of love. Dara's motocycles has a CRM250 AR available for around 2000 but I suspect a bit of love will be needed as well.
Anyway I was hoping to call on the vast collective knowledge of the khmer 440er's to give me the common problems on both bikes and your honest opinion. I know that the CRM has an oil injector, but to me that isnt so important.
Any info is much appreciated,
Thanks!

Check the VIN on the KDX. Is it a Jap model or US model? 93-94 had the inverted forks, so might not actually be KX forks. A nice bike from the US might have the KX forks as the Yanks liked to swap them (plus forks on the KDX were notoriously soft). Jap model is street legal and has a different engine.
If it's a pre-95 KDX get the power valves checked. Those tended to fail, but new steel ones are being produced. If 95+, then parts are easier to come by. The KDX is a very capable bike with lots of torque for a smoker. Probably more fun and linear than the CRF.
If it's a 2000+ KDX that's very clean, $2000 isn't too bad. I'd still try to bargain though and bring that down.

I believe the its a 2003 KDX. He said he got it from the US, but ill double check the VIN.
Ill try to bargain and use that money to replace what is needed. Any left over money will go to getting a oversized gas tank.

You're talking about the one from Sang's? Yeah that's a US model, saw it today. Had an FMF pipe, but didn't see if it was a woods or desert pipe (one gives more top end, the other more grunt). Looked ok-ish.
You could also try Raksmey on Russian boulevard across from that new Malaysian mall. There used to be three shops there and they had several KDXs, but unfortunately two of those shops closed. Raksmey remains and he might have a bike for sale.
