Organic Pest & Disease Control Products for Farms
Organic Pest & Disease Control Products for Farms
Are there any companies that are importing (or manufacturing) organic pest and disease control products in Cambodia? Bordeaux Mixture, Baccillus Thurengensis (BT - brand name Dipel), rotenone, neem products, pyrethrum products, etc...??

I suggest you take a trip out to the University of Agriculture and speak to them.
Head out on 217, turn left at the Chomchao junction, and about 6km down the road.

That brings my issue I have with organic products to the point: Organic pest and disease control - oxymoron!?MattZ wrote:Are there any companies that are importing (or manufacturing) organic pest and disease control products in Cambodia? MattZ,,, Give up trying now before you start banging your head against a brick wall. When plant shops here don't even know what lime and dolomite are. Don't know what NPK stands for or what PH levels are, then you know YOU are the smartest kid in town. Expecting them to know about BT and how it works, [ I used kilo's of it in the 70's and 80's ] or what pyrethrum and neem oil are, is way above the heads of even the so called experts in any ag uni here .
You are wrong Duncan , the RUA is doing a lot of work with organic gardening , hydroponics , etc
Well worth a visit for anyone interested in agriculture in Cambodia .
It may be worth talking to or visiting these two farms also http://www.ngkhmer.com/index.php

There are a number of organic products available in the markets. Dipel is sold here as Thuricide. I have also seen neem (azidactrin) although I don't recall the name on the package. Best if you go into a few of the shops selling fertilizers and pesticides and go through the labels yourself. The shopkeepers won't be much help. Cheers.
Jimbo: Cheers. Can you give me a little more guidance like which markets in Phnom Penh exactly, and where in those markets - or how can I find them??

Sorry Mate, I can't help you in Phnom Penh as I am based in Siem Reap. Check out a few of the shops selling landscape plants, they might have some of these or could point you in the right direction.

Try allowing a single weed to grow as a decoy among your cultivated crops. Decoy crops may attract pests and help to keep the bad guys away from your other crops. Striped blister beetles, for instance, seem to prefer redroot pigweed to tomato plants growing nearby. To keep the insects from moving to your tomatoes, check the pigweed each morning and shake off any beetles into a bucket of soapy water.
Duncan is right most of them have no clue. ofcourse not all of those working at the University but you can even see the higher ranked directors of teachers really have no clue about farming.
