Pigeons, rice farmers, pigs, health problems, death! yikes!!!
Well, im thankful for the 5 pages of positivity. I showed some of my friends this thread, and they suspected that i was not only DeanWeen but also all of the people on the forum who responded in favor of kombucha, as they had never seen a thread hold up this well on 440 before. so thank you to all for the great feedback. It was amazing to see, and also a little surreal to see my small business grow to where it is over such a small amount of time.
and its fine that there are finally some questions and disagreements on the subject. im surprised it didnt come up before, and it is a topic that is debatable not only here, but around the world. Yes, there are a handful of reports online that bring up some side effects and a few deaths. So far ive found 3 deaths that have been reported over the last couple decades. 2 deaths from 1995 and one death in 2009. And maybe if you browsed long enough, youd find a few more (but every site ive read comes back to these three only, just regurgitated information on the same 3 cases).
Millions of people drank Kombucha around the world today and have done so every day for decades, and will continue to do so.
I believe that more westerners in Sihanoukville have died of heart attacks this year alone, compared to the world wide accumulated documentation of kombucha related deaths reported around the globe, ever.
There are a lot of articles, both for and against the use of probiotics, kefir, kombucha...
There are way more articles on side effects and deaths involved with antibiotics. I personally feel absolutely awful when i take antibiotics. So maybe some bodies react differently. I am definitely a believer in probiotics, and refuse to ever again take antibiotics unless it was truly truly necessary. My body takes months to recover from antibiotic side effects.
I knew before starting my kombucha brewing in Cambodia, that there are those who will never come around to drinking it because of what they've read online, or they dont care for the taste, or for any other reason. That is fine, im not trying to convince the entire forum that kombucha is the best thing ever and will fix and cure all health problems.
However, there are millions of people around the world, who love it, drink it every day, claim its beneficial properties, live very long healthy lives, and enjoy the taste and the way they feel from it.
Even at my school, about 30 percent of my colleagues drink a glass a day, up to 750ml a day of my kombucha, while another 20% percent have a bottle a week or so. While the other half just arent that interested.
I brought it to Cambodia, because i personally love the way i feel when i drink it, like the taste, enjoy making it, enjoy experimenting with south east asia exotic fruit fermentations, believe that probiotics work for me, and enjoy the little profit that i make in it.
So thanks to all for the support and all those who have come to check out my operation and motivated me to keep going.
And if you are interested i am bottling 12 bottles of organic jack fruit kombucha tonight. Will be ready tomorrow.
I also have in stock, 10 bottles of infused organic passion fruit, 7 bottles of natural berry, 10 bottles of original flavor (no second ferment), 4 bottles of organic mango, and much more on the way...
Goodbye America, if anyone asks, say we were shipwrecked. Goodbye to your junk and your old hideola. Have a nice day.
