Often described as the "Picasso" of Cambodia's Modern Art World, this famous master artist tirelessly recorded his interpretation of daily life here in the Kingdom. A self-educated "smart naive" painter who was widely exhibited Internationally passed away in 2008 at aged 75, but his legacy and influence will continue to live on.
I have a modest collection of paintings from his entire painting period (he started later in his life) of 1994-2008. Do the research - there is much on the net and he is represented by a Singapore Gallery (10 Chancery Lane Gallery), in the collection of the Singapore National Gallery and Sasa Bassac Gallery here in PP (also New Art Gallery in PP has a few of his earlier paintings, but they are in poor condition). His work is also in many serious art collections as well as various museums Internationally.
They are priced on the low side, but you must do your own due diligence regarding current value. Please PM me if you recognize Svay Ken's importance and significance and are seriously interested in purchasing his work.

Well, Comrade Vlad...it isn't by Svay Ken, but rather his niece Sochivy who paints very similar to him. She is a well-respected Internationally exhibited and collected artist in her own right (also represented by Sassa Bassac). I also own several of her works - she reflects more the youth perspective of PP (she is in her early 30's now). Fortunately for her, for it is rare indeed here, her family supports what she does.vladimir wrote:He has a painting on the wall of Happy Phnom Penh Pizza

I must say, I greatly prefer your "translated" writings into poems by khmerhit and falcon to your own attempts at the form...so it goes...keep drinking, smoking and writing...ken svay, svay ken, ken svay...
