FREEBIRD - FOR SALE
Just FYI we are getting offers around the 110K mark from a couple of established people who already have businesses here. The 10 year lease starts when the new buyer moves in. A 10 year lease is almost unheard off especially at $1400 per month for the whole building approx 400m2

Or fannies as they call them. Lol.
"That birds got a massive fanny" "I've got a sore fanny" "It was so tight I had to touch another woman's fanny with mine" etc
pew, pew, pew, pew!

Fanny has a completely different meaning to those from North America versus those from the UK and Ireland. For North Americans it's best viewed from behind, for Brits, from in front. For both, sans vêtements.jm wrote:Americans don't say "bird". Fanny is understood but a bit archaic. Ass or butt will do.

It pains me to say it because Freebird has been a favorite eatery of me and the kids for years, but Freebird appears to be dead in the water.
After years of consistency, it's now all over the place. My last few visits have been all not been positive, so I've stayed away for a few weeks, but I ventured in nursing a hangover for breakfast. There was only one other customer, a year back at this time there would be half a dozen. As I sit down he gets up and calmly walks out, I missed the events proceeding so not sure why he upped and left.
I order my usual, get some water but not the juice (which is often the case these days), wait 15 minutes, still no coffee, juice or food. The waitress then comes and tells me they have run out of my order and asks me to order something else. I choose option B and up sticks and head to Lonestar.
The place is usually stuffy now, I think they've taken to setting the air-con to 28 or something. In my experience when an establishment tries saving money on air-con, the end is nigh. Hopefully they can sell soon and get back on course.
It's a shame, I hope they can turn it around.

This precisely reflects my experience the other day. I was the only person in, and it was dingy and depressing to say the least. The staff do their best, but there is a serious lack of management attention or care at Freebird these days.

I haven't been for around three years as I only really liked their cold meatloaf sandwich, and I don't often crave that; but if they have turned their aircon up that could only be a good thing in my book, a fellow could suffer exposure in there in the past.

Update: Freebird seems to have got its act back together, the last few times I've been in there they hadn't run out of anything, the air-con was cold again and the staff were on top of everything.

Insane high price to buy a low-pay job.
Decent buildings on any number of similar streets could be leased and fitted out for less.

I should ask the US Embassy to support it, but it might not be their policy to choose one business over another, in terms of fairness, etc. They might be governed by regional or global regulations as well. Bureaucracy, what can you do? One resto gets sponsored in a backwater country, then all your fave eateries worldwide hold grudges against you for not picking them, haha.
But other Embassies practice this form of sponsorship. Metahouse and Germany, Irina and Russia. Why not the US and Freebird?
I must say though, that Freebird is authentically American and does pass the "Americanness" test. They also passively promote American food, music, and culture. Their walls show it all!

Is that the same US Embassy that you stood outside waiting for an invite into a Veteran's get-together that someone fooled you into thinking was happening and when you asked for a contact number to secure your invitation, you were given the number for the Walkabout?
