Kratie Black pepper
Kratie Black pepper
Bought 20 kgs of spicy black pepper from girl whose family is a small producer 2 years ago and now she is back. Dynamite black pepper before...Will go sample it tonight....If you are interested send me a private message.
Just tasted the new crop.....Small pepper but boy does it pack a punch...I am down to my last 200 grams from 2 years ago...I would say this new crop is identical...Just chomp on 1 and a burst of pepper power...Not joking... If you want the big Kampot pepper which looks nice because of its big size (and big price tag) it is up to you....But if you want quality combined with reasonable price this pepper is for you.
Yeah....Well I'll bet those stringent requirements don't come cheap nor does certification...But like vinyards, there are lovely wines to be had from small family run operations that don't have the fancy certificates and higher operating costs.

online and electronic payment is where its at
perhaps even those sites that list and sell from the restaurants if not your own stock made selling webpage or even ask that guy who sells mexican food on here for some clues advice or even to add your products to his list.
just suggestions, face to face transaction cost are too high, too time consuming, too personal

True, and the requirements also include a specific ratio of bat dung in the soil - which in turn helps locals that can then collect the guano and sell it. But at least Kampot pepper is organic, which I'm sure the rest of the pepper in the country is not.

$80/kg? Laughable. What are they smoking, Chinese rent dope?
Best pepper from a Mom and Pop store on Western side of BKK Market, $5/kg
Saw a new product, Khmer banana wine for sale in a minimart yesterday, priced at $7.50, idiots, placed right next to SA/Aus/French wines going for less.

The girlfriend just told me the 5$ a kilo black pepper is mixed with some other crap.
The Khmer banana wine is $7.50. Muscle wine is cheaper, and one can purchase kamagra, condoms and jel ,..and probably, Kratie or Kampot pepper at the minimart. How convenient ,..next door dont sell it,vladimir wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 12:48 am$80/kg? Laughable. What are they smoking, Chinese rent dope?

I think many rumours get started by competitors, which may be true and may just be competitors trying to up their product or screw others, it's hard to say. The stuff I buy is all black pepper, no mix. All black peppercorns. Very nice. No reason to buy anything else.

We've almost always gotten our black pepper from the girl from Kratie (girlfriend's friend). My weekend project is to go to 10 pepper sellers around the Bkk area and get pepper prices. i consider myself a good shopper...Will try to get 1/2 kilo. 1 kilo and 5 kilo prices.... Look forward to getting back to you.
Well I did the rounds and the 5$ a kilo black pepper placesare peppered all over the place.
There seem to be 2 qualities that I could detect from my inspection.
The "real" Kampot pepper went as high as 20$ a kilo and I did find it for 13$ a kilo.
I chompted on the 5$ ones and they tended to be lighter and not as dense as the higher grade peppercorns but hey, you can't expect 5* for 5$.
The higher grade black (which is what I've got) is denser and packs more of a punch.
Lower grade white pepper is 10$ a kilo and the higher grade white 22$ a kilo.
So there you have it.
I think I will stick to selling dill pickles!
