Buying Honda win
Evenin'. After a Honda win 125cc. Looking to spend between $200-300 depending on condition of bike.

Tourists ride through Vietnam and sometimes sell Wins here, usually to other foreigners as Cambodians don't rate them too highly. Plus registering them here is likely difficult. I think there are usually a few in that area with all the bike warehouses between Tep Pon (182) and 202 just west of Monivong/ Mondiale.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
They’re rarely genuine Honda.
Always (Chinese) Detech or preferably Lifan, which are pretty rare but not as rare as genuine “Honda Wins”.
It’s a massive con in Vietnam. Shops selling “Honda” Wins when their manufacturing origins and year of “birth” are arbitrary. Total death traps.
Search FB or khmer24 for new Wins - 2017 models look like 1997 models..because they invariably are.
Utter sham.

Yep. Everyone frowns upon them except for backpackers... But at the end of the day they're cheap to run and cheap to repair. I think if youre competent on a manual bike they're just as much a death trap as the next bike... Although, if you have any recommendations on another cheap bike I'm all ears brotherYaTingPom wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2019 9:47 pmThey’re rarely genuine Honda.

Daelim.
Do what you want with those shit Wins in Vietnam but do yourself and Cambodia a favour and dump them in Vietnam.
Travel Cambodia on a Daelim (Citi or 110).
Any town, shack or back street stall will have parts and they won’t fall to pieces. Built to a much higher standard than those Youn junkers - and actually licensed and designed from Honda (early ones had “Honda” stamped on the engine) based in the 80s Honda Cub.
If you’re looking at riding across to Vietnam then fine but you’d be better off buying a Win in Vietnam.
If you’re riding around Cambodia for a time get a Daelim and sell it at the border.

Thinking about a Honda benly or the daelim now. They both seem reliable. Thanks for the information mate!YaTingPom wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2019 11:43 pmDaelim.

Detech makes a 125cc "Win", as do a few other companies, but they have less power than a 100cc genuine Honda so the displacement is irrelevant in this case, and if you go for a 110cc Win, you get less power than an 85cc real Honda. They're total dogs.
If you're looking to spend $200-300 though, unless you know how to do your own wrenching and carry a bag of spares, you're asking for trouble, even with a newer Win. Also if you break down on the road in Cambodia, good luck in finding any spares to get them back on the road without doing some serious rigging.
You can get a newly imported Daelim and get it plated in your name for $350-400, which is the route I'd personally take. Citi 100s popularity has drastically plummeted and dealers have difficulty selling them now, hence the price drop.
Check out the dealers in Psar Depo area and you'll see literally hundreds of them.
