Hey,
I'm moving to Phnom Penh at the end of July to teach English (yes, another one!) - I hate moving at the best of times so I'm ideally looking to settle in Cambodia.
I'm moving from England, having just completed my CELTA course with 'pass - A grade'. I'll receive a 'statement of results' from Cambridge first to confirm this and then my actual certificate will follow a few weeks after that.
Here's the potential problem ... I'll have the statement of results with me when I move to Phnom Penh, but I may not have received the certificate in time for when I leave the UK.
Would my statement of results be enough to prove my CELTA qualification until I get a friend / family member to bring the certificate at a later date, or should I pay a fee to rearrange my flight for a later date once I have the certificate as well if it is going to be that much of a problem?
Thanks,
Kurt.

Get the award in writing on pretty paper and that'll do the trick.

Bearing in mind that you can't get a CELTA certificate replaced if it's lost, I'd be tempted to keep it in hand. After that, it depends on where you'll be looking for work. A new certificate won't be of much interest to a school that would be informed enough to check it out, anyhow... much less a promissory note of one, and a school lower down the ladder just wants a copy of the fancy paper for the wall.
Congrats on the A, btw.

I just have photocopies of my certificates and degree here, along with PDF files of scans of them on my computer. I didn't receive the Advanced TEFL certificate (the paper copy) until after I was here, so I just had my Mom scan it and send a PDF to me.
I didn't want to bring the originals. If they really wanted more confirmation, I'd contact a faculty member or the administration at either of my schools and get some kind of reference there or transcript or something. A faculty member who you know well would be better, because they wouldn't have all the red tape that the administration does - signed forms of release and all that crap. They could just send an email or something. I did TEFL/Advanced TEFL, and I don't know how CELTA works exactly, but since you got an A you should ask the instructor for a letter of reference, if you think they like you or would be willing. That'd be additional back-up on that, and a nice addition to your whole resume package.

CELTA certification and degrees in Applied Linguistics - and so on - can be purchased on Khaosarn Road in Bangkok or in Chungking Mansions in Hong Kong at reasonable prices

One ought to add that this issue - bogus credentials - is a 100% taboo issue on Dave's ESL Cafe

So if I get a scanned image of the certificate once it's sent to my address in UK, then that'll be ok? Granted what was said - they may think it's a fake. I don't know what to do now... I don't want to get out there and be stuck!

Don't panic, the scaNNed image will be fine - it's what I've submitted for every job that I've had here.
