Bollockscan easily find nice apartment in new building with yard between $50 to 70 per month
TrueLively expat community
BollocksCentral market has many bargains
Utter bollocks. A lot of things are more expensive in Kampot than PP because they get them sent from PP, that's why a lot of western restaurants buy in bulk from Sihanoukville or PP.One third of what it costs in PP, so that $6 per is the equivalent in buying power to $18 per in PP
What exactly is cheaper in Kampot than PP?? Maybe fruits.
The real difference is that there are far less occasions to spend your money but then it depends what you do in your spare time. When your day is over at 10:30 am...

I pay $50 per month for a one bedroom semi-furnished flat, separate kitchen and full bathroom with western shiter., fenced yard, 5 fruit trees that I help harvest and devour the mangoes and coconuts daily.
My significant other and I go out to eat 2 times a day, never pay more than $1.50 each. including milk shake.
I like cheddar cheese, at Heng Dy store its 25 percent cheaper per kilo than either PP or S’Ville.
I buy beer by the case (24 cans) which runs me $7, a little over 25 cents per can. Durian is half the price in PP. Electricity is the same per Kwh as PP, but water is a fraction.
The Central Market is loaded with bargains. Needed some new “principal” attire, new, classy slacks with tailoring ran $3 each. Can get a 42 inch LCD TV for $75 less than in PP
Anyway you cut it, Kampot is considerably cheaper than PP.

English teachers, apparently, LoL!bonnetdedouche wrote: What exactly is cheaper in Kampot than PP??
Tru dat! That's how I felt in Indonesia. Saved a little more on a much lower salary because there was fuck-all to spend it on.The real difference is that there are far less occasions to spend your money but then it depends what you do in your spare time. When your day is over at 10:30 am...
So, maybe your rent is only a third of what that night cost in PP, but it doesn't seem like any of your other examples come anywhere close to 66% cheaper as you claim.lorena bobbit wrote:I pay $50 per month for a one bedroom semi-furnished flat, separate kitchen and full bathroom with western shiter., fenced yard, 5 fruit trees that I help harvest and devour the mangoes and coconuts daily.

I agree, but I must add Iran is a wonderful place to visit and good luck getting a high paid job there. SP was right.KL&fool wrote:How dare you call Myanmar a 'shitty location'? Usually schools in shitty locations like Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, Mongolia or Iran pay more because they are “hardship” postings.
No matter what the cost of living may be, expecting a qualified teacher to work for a pathetic salary like that is a rip off.

I taught in Myanmar for 2 years - I liked it, had a Myanmar spouse, nice house, yard, 20 fruit trees, but I was the exception, in my 2 year stint there, there was almost a 75 percent turnover of foreign hire. the majority lasted 2 to 3 months.
I was able to live high on the hog (and support 5 members of spouse's family) and still save over half my salary.
And darling "qualified" doesn't necessarily equal "good". I'd rather have a good teacher that loved children over a cranky, misanthrope "qualified" teacher any day.
The vitriol is dripping off your post.
Chill, baby, chill.

Am I making a mistake, or are you stating you would be happy to employ someone unqualified over someone who isn't?lorena bobbit wrote:And darling "qualified" doesn't necessarily equal "good". I'd rather have a good teacher that loved children over a cranky, misanthrope "qualified" teacher any day.

I worked in Myanmar for three years at two schools. In the two years at my second school out of 15 foreign teachers we had a turnover of 2, and one of those had come down with his second case of dengue and didn't feel like risking a third. You quite obviously worked at Horizon or ILBC, two schools I wouldn't want my worst enema to work at.lorena bobbit wrote:I taught in Myanmar for 2 years... but I was the exception, in my 2 year stint there, there was almost a 75 percent turnover of foreign hire. the majority lasted 2 to 3 months.
