** NEW Teaching vacancies in Siem Reap **
Good morning,
Future Bright International School (FBIS) is looking for English teachers!
A wonderful opportunity to join one of the largest international schools in Siem Reap as we expand onto our new, second campus next to the University of South East Asia (USEA) and Vitking House restaurant on High School Road. We're looking for qualified, experienced English teachers to join our ranks. Good wages, brand new classrooms all with aircon, and lovely students. Vacancies becoming available all the time as we expand our curriculum.
Come and drop off a CV at the FBIS office at the above location - we're looking forward to meeting you
For more information, please reply to this post or send me a message. CVs also accepted through e-mail.
Many thanks.

Yeah right, walk us through it?
That was a joke, right?
I bet you (and most other schools here) wouldn't know the first step in verifying someone's degree, or making sure police checks (what are those, right?) are legit.
No offence, but that's what we should expect from a country where 99+% of all the teachers here haven't even HEARD of a "work permit."

cambod,
It's quite unfair to throw out accusations regarding the regulations in an establishment in which you have absolutely no involvement. I am well aware of some of the more "relaxed" processes used in other schools, and that's up to them. Please don't tar everybody with the same brush.
This thread is about recruiting new teachers for what is a wonderful, popular school in Siem Reap. Let's keep it on topic please!

Out of interest (I posted on this topic a while ago), what checks could a new teacher expect?pdteah wrote:cambod,

At the very least you should indicate some sort of sliding pay scale. Just as you do not want to waste your time interviewing candidates who are unqualified neither do potential applicants wish to show up for a job with a lousy salary nor even submit a resume. If it's not worth the money it's not worth the time. Equally important, you should indicate what grade or skill levels you are seeking. And the phrase "our pay scale is competitive" is not satisfactory.
I'd bet $10 everyone on here would laugh at your so-called "screening" process. Take it or leave it.pdteah wrote:cambod,

Even academic record checks are extremely difficult to do without good contacts overseas.
Privacy laws protect criminals as well as law-abiding citizens.
I once asked a UK University about some clown I worked with, and they said they needed a signed agreement from him before they could release details. I gave them his year of graduation, field of study, copy of the degree certificate and a copy of his passport back page..
I explained the history of why I suspected he had a serious criminal record.
They gave me nothing, they would not even say if he had attended the university.
The only luck I did have was with a Canadian university who told me one teacher had attended, but had not graduated after I explained the problems we have with paedophiles here. But still nothing in writing.
I think even academic transcripts can only be accessed after a signed release is obtained.
Given the difficulties, and my experiences in Cambodia, I'd say cambod hit the nail on the head, I think the majority of employers don't even contact the previous employer let alone check dates/conduct.
As far as I know, only ISPP, ACE and Northbridge do anything resembling comprehensive checks, and even those systems fail sometimes.

ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
Exactly. And it's not an easy process for them either.vladimir wrote:Even academic record checks are extremely difficult to do without good contacts overseas.

Not singling the above school out, but I bet they wouldn't have a clue as to how to even BEGIN a check on someone.
Ok, lovely students, aircon, but mum on salary and absolutely no response about what ages are being taught and at what level. Either you're new at the job or this is just another run of the diploma mill jobs. Look, if you want an experienced teacher you can't pretend to hold all the cards and deal them out one by one at an interview. Experienced teachers in Cambodia know the score. So far your "lovely school(near a restaurant) isn't doing well here, because the contributors have been around the Cambodian job block. Your refusal to answer pertinent questions sucks.

It's an International school. It's not on the WASC or IB lists. It's not an International school.
The school has solid checks in place. It's in Siem Reap. I asked about Bill. They thanked me about telling them about Bill.
I still can't work out if they want someone to teach English Language or English Literature.
