good schools to apply to for celta holder
Hey yall,
I've got a celta, uni degree, and experience. I have been applying to schools in PP. But everytime I get to the interview they are only offering $10 or $12. That dog don't hunt!
Can anyone point me to a link that has a list of good schools that actually pay well and are looking for professional teachers? I am tired of wasting my time with low quality schools that don't offer a real wage. I'm a professional and I expect to be paid like one. I'm guessing that I should aim for schools that require a CELTA. Is there a list of those kinds of schools in PP?
thank you
By the by, I heard ACE, Northbridge and Zaman are good. But, I reckon the list is longer.

Knock NorthBridge off that list, the other 2 are good places to start.foghornleghorn wrote:

Thanks, I was just poking about and realized that Northbridge only hires people with a degree in education.
Redo....
Is there a list of good schools that will only take applicants that have a celta and degree, but do not require a degree in education?
My floor is $15 per hour, but the school should be well run if I am going to accept low pay like that.
I prefer $20 per hour, give or take a few dollars.
From my brief look, seems like such schools are slim pickins here. I guess I might have to take a bad job to save to resettle elsewhere.
If someone could get me a list of say 5-8 schools I would be happy.

What degree do you have?
Bachelor's or master's?
What was your major?
These things can make a difference - to a decent school, anyway.

Pay is around the US$20 per hour mark and the resources are some of the best you'll find anywhere. An enjoyable place to work, but you'll have to pay your own airfare.

Thanks for the info. I am applying to ACE.
But I was hoping for a larger list.
Here is a list of schools that I have applied to or expect to apply to this week. It was built using ESLbase and from postings I found on the world wide web. I would appreciate any help in sorting the wheat from the chaff. Are there other schools I should add to this list?
Able Kids Center
ACE Australian Centre for Education – this is supposed to A1
AEC American Education Center
American Intercon Institute
American Pacific School
Apple Tree International School
Color Kids International School
Florida American School
Footprints School
Harvest Educater Center
Home of English
Kidsland Early Learning Centre
Learning for Success Institute
Learning International School
Liberty International School
M-Tel International School
Modern International School
Northwest International Academy
Norton University
Pannasastra International School – I heard they offer meth-pay, $10 per hour.
Phnom Penh Montessori International School
Ponleu Kolbuth School
Quality Learning International School
Sun Valley International School
The Camptop International School
The Westline School
VIP Training International
Western International School
Wonga International School
Zaman International School -- I hear they are good
How about info on pay rates offered, classroom size, professionalism of staff, professionalism of management, resources offered to staff, and other useful information?
Hey, why doesn't this site already have a big list of this stuff already floating around somewhere?
Thanks yall

$9 now, after taxes. (Also, it's labeled a university, unless you're talking about another place...)foghornleghorn wrote: Pannasastra International School – I heard they offer meth-pay, $10 per hour.

PIS is the high school branch of the university. Spoilt rich teenagers arriving in Land Cruisers and you on $9 an hour. Go figure.cambod wrote:$9 now, after taxes. OP - you seem to be spreading your net wide - everything from kindergarten to university. Surely you must have a specialist focus if you're expecting to be at the top end of the pay scale?

I believe Vlad posted a good list a while ago.foghornleghorn wrote:

Honestly, I haven't even heard of a good 1/3 of those schools on your list. In the past year, I honestly think a new school has popped up every 2/3 weeks on average.
While many positions are still offering $10 per hour, if not lower, there are also a lot more opportunities to be earning in the neighborhood of $1,500 +/-. And a LOT more places seem to be offering monthly salaries instead of hourly rates.
Out of curiosity, how did you get that list you posted? I'm impressed!

They did - when it opened it was P.I.S.S. until somebody (me) pointed out what it meant, at which point it was changed to PSIS.cambod wrote:Should at least add "secondary" to their name so they can having a fitting acronym.foghornleghorn wrote:
