My employer - the big boss - just approached me and asked me to bring in my original diploma next week so that "they" (Receptionists? Managerial staff? Third party?) can make a certified copy to give to the MoE. He told me I'd get it back in 5-6 days.
I've been working here for 2 years. My boss (as a person) and his intentions, I trust, but it makes me very nervous to let my diploma - of course, my only copy; essential for getting any kind of TEFL job, very difficult to replace here - out of my hands.
Am I overreacting or is this a normal request? Could I get a certified copy on my own without having to leave it someplace overnight?
Boss wants to take my diploma for certified copy?

It's an abnormal request in that few bother to do it, but perhaps if you work at a real school...
At a decent school, it should be mandatory
