I have the following original books, bought in Thailand which are core textbooks for the Cambridge DELTA:
- Working with Words (Ruth Gairns & Stuart Redman)
- Beyond the Sentence Introducing discourse analysis (Scott Thornbury)
- Implementing the Lexical Approach Putting theory into Practice (Michael Lewis)
- Sound Foundations Learning and teaching Pronunciation (Adrian Underhill)
All of the above books have been highlighted to some degree, but contain the accompanying CD's, etc. They are not easy to source in Cambodia.
I also have the following downloaded and printed books (locally made copies):
- How to Teach Vocabulary
- Methodology in Language Teaching
- How to Teach Speaking
- The Practice of English Language Teaching
- How Languages are Learned
- Testing for Language Teachers
- Techniques and Principles in Language Teaching
- About Language - Tasks for teachers of English
- Practical English Usage
The above books are pretty much all of the core texts that are needed for Cambridge DELTA courses or similar Diploma TEFL courses which often make up the first 1/3 of most MA TEFL . I'm selling the lot for $30. If anyone is interested, please call me on 092925759.

Do you have any books or parts of a book pertaining to discourse analysis? I've been trying to get my hands on as much material on the subject as possible.

Just going through the materials and this one looks like it might be useful to you.- Beyond the Sentence: Introducing discourse analysis (Scott Thornbury)
This could be a link to downloading a pdf; otherwise a google brings up a few options.

It's very tough- an MA level qual. I did it a few years ago and it really does make you think. The CELTA teaches you how but the DELTA teaches you why.An Invented Name wrote:Did you finish it?
how was it?
I work with and do my best to improve teachers who've done a CELTA, but the one thing that stands out in their lesson planning is that they can't justify their stages. The DELTA will sort that out!
