weekly contact hours/salaries at typical language schools??
weekly contact hours/salaries at typical language schools??
Assuming full time position, teaching credentials/license in place, American graduate school education degree, 6-7 years of verifiable teaching ESL experience. Anyone?? Thank you.....
With those credentials, try for ACE if you want to stay in TEFL. Around $22 per hour - not sure how many contact hours are the norm there?
Since you have a degree in education from the US, you might be better off approaching one of the international schools - ISPP, Northbridge, BISPP, Zaman, East-West, CIA - probably in that order in terms of pay scales.
All of them have websites with contacts details so you might want to take a look.

I've heard ACE are CELTA nazis and won't hire anyone without one, which is kind of dumb if true.

It's "kind of dumb" to recruit only those with the best EFL qualifications?KPTIC wrote:I've heard ACE are CELTA nazis and won't hire anyone without one, which is kind of dumb if true.
The best English teachers work at IB schools with real certifications from their home countries/states and master degrees. Hardly any of them have a CELTA. I would be surprised if ISPP or NISC would hire a teacher from ACE with his amazing CELTA.

ACE teaches EFL: English as a foreign language. Therefore, they employ English language teachers. A home country certified teacher, which you'll find at the international schools you mentioned above, is unlikely to be able to make the leap to EFL without sufficient training in this field (as a CELTA guarantees).
The two industries require different skill sets which is why you always find the the better language schools prioritising EFL TRAINING for EFL JOBS.

And they wouldn't. Because they're not EFL schools!!!KPTIC wrote:I would be surprised if ISPP or NISC would hire a teacher from ACE with his amazing CELTA.
