IPS School Review : Northbridge International Cambodia
In my knowledge, there has only ever been one critical review of PP schools published. It was in 2005 and appeared in that icon of Cambodian journalistic excellence the Bayon Pearnik.

I would hazard a guess they don't have any cardboard boxes for you to rent so it is more than likely you haven't come across them.vladimir wrote:Delusional. Did you rent your hole-in-the wall bar from them?Chuck Wow wrote:I would hazard a guess they don't have any cardboard boxes for you to rent so it is more than likely you haven't come across them.vladimir wrote:Delusional. Guess some were not schooled in the meaning of 'the vast majority'.

In all fairness, the same could be said for Rose Bar, Walkabout, or even GSM if it had doors.IPS Cambodia wrote: Hi Gilmore, Given the vast majority of expats that move to Cambodia pass through our doors at some point
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.

They also admit they did not conduct any detailed investigation of these schools and would not publish anything negative about them on account of the relationship they enjoy with them.
I find your claim that the vast majority of expats here pass through your doors at some stage highly dubious. You seem to think all international schools want and need promotion from your ilk, which is absolutely untrue in our case. We have managed very well for 21 years without such help.
Readers can now see these promotional pieces in a clear light-a real estate company promoting the virtues of schools that have a business relationship with them, without any form of serious investigation or objective analysis. What we are going to receive is simply a copy of these schools' advertising blurbs.
Hi Gilmore,
Not a problem if you don't want to be included as part of our school review. However I still don't quite understand why you are so offended by this blog. If we had written a piece on only one school with a headline of "Best School in Phnom Penh - 10/10 and went into great detail to extol the virtues of said school then I could understand eyebrows being raised. However as I mentioned the driving force behind writing these blogs is to provide our clients with information on a common question we receive. You don't have to take my word for it, take a look at our other blogs and you will see it for yourself; We receive questions about what there is to do in PP, so we wrote a blog on different sports to play here. We receive questions about the good bars and restaurants in PP, so we wrote on blog on the nightlife. We received questions about the enforcement of the foreign ownership law in Daun Penh, so we wrote a blog explaining the changes. We receive questions of the different title types, so we wrote a blog on it. We receive questions of the schools here, so we wrote a blog on it. It's pretty straight forward and hardly justifies our integrity and morals being attacked.
As a rule writing blogs is enjoyable and after writing one there is nothing that I like better than the Colonel's fired chicken. With 11 secret herbs and spices there is no better chicken in town and at $2.95 for their snack box it's great value for money. KFC - Finger licking good.
So you're also being asked about fast good joints in pp?
IPS obviously have a different perspective of expat demographics than you or me, Garry. To them, expats are UN workers, Embassy staff, wealthy NGOs, business people and highly paid international school teachers. The rest don't count.
What I found particularly amusing was their invitation to me to contact them regarding making a similar arrangement to the one they have with the other 5 schools. I assume that means we supply them with personal information and contact details of new staff members and they provide us with free publicity.
IPS and the likes of scobienz may consider this to be astute business practice, but it doesn't fit with my personal ethics.

Alexandra, does this go some way to answering your question?

No Vladimir I didn't need to rent the bar from them ... but I have rented 4 houses/apartments from them in the last 6 years and a 3500sqm warehouse and office facility that I use for the import, export and storage of personal effects of over 275 expat families a year to and from Cambodia...vladimir wrote:Did you rent your hole-in-the wall bar from them?Chuck Wow wrote:I would hazard a guess they don't have any cardboard boxes for you to rent so it is more than likely you haven't come across them.vladimir wrote:Delusional. Guess some were not schooled in the meaning of 'the vast majority'.
I have also had an exceptional business relationship with IPS over the years and have worked alongside them to find homes for a good number of my inbound clients. However I would say that the vast majority of the clients that did ask me if I knew of any real-estate companies in Phnom Penh had already been in contact with or were already planning to talk to IPS.
Based on a low-balled average of 20 rentals per month I would say that IPS probably assisted up to 240 people / families last year find a new property. With a moderate conversion rate of even 50% that would mean they would have had to have met over 480 people / families in the last year alone... I am guessing that this is a low number given they probably get hundreds of drop in enquiries a year for short-term rentals and those out there looking to spend less than $100 a month on a 3 bed property in BKK1 because "their friend had place like that in 2001 and it must still be the same, yeah"...
I accept that a good number of those 450+ people / families each year are repeat clients (another testament to their great levels of service) and I am not sure of the exact number of expat families that arrive in Phnom Penh each year but I would hazard a guess that the claim that the vast majority of expats looking for a home have passed through their doors is neither bullshit a God complex or delusional.
And here is the kicker Vlad, in case you think my previous experience or ongoing business relationship with IPS has made me biased...
I now sit as the country director of a "competing" real estate company in Phnom Penh (Yes Vlad, once again I have followed the pack and done something completely unoriginal), but despite this I would have absolutely no problem whatsoever in offering anything but a glowing recommendation for IPS and it's team.
I know from experience how good they are. I am guessing you don't and never will and find it much easier to sit there in your fucking hovel bitching about a company you will never use.
I think i can live with your moral outrage.Gilmore wrote: IPS and the likes of scobienz may consider this to be astute business practice, but it doesn't fit with my personal ethics.
