Hey guys,
Every time I go to a foreign country, I always listen to the Pimsleur language program for that country. However, Pimsleur does not make Khmer available yet, so I decided to create my own. I downloaded the transcripts for Pimsleur French and replaced the french with khmer, translated with Google Translate. Of course, there will be mistakes, please assist me in correcting them. Even better if you have a quizlet account and can record your voice in khmer. If you can help, I can give you editing access to my set of flashcards on Quizlet.

I spelled it so that Quizlet's text to speech could try to pronounce it in Khmer correctly. The spelling's won't be the official correct spelling.
I just posted Unit 2

If any of you know how to pronounce it in Khmer correctly and have a quizlet plus account, I'll give you admin access and you can record your voice.

Not to be a stickler, but if the project isn't authorized by Pimsleur, you shouldn't call it Pimsleur Khmer.
That's kind of like making your own hamburger and calling it "Five Guys."

I wish Pimsleur made Khmer. I'm trying to recreate what Pimsleur Khmer will look like when or if they do. Technically, Pimsleur Khmer doesn't exist yet so they don't have copyright claims on "Pimsleur Khmer". And if I labeled it as "Graduated Interval Recall Khmer" or "Spaced Repetition Khmer" it doesn't have the same ring to it. By seeing "Pimsleur Khmer" people instantly know what it's about and the methodology behind it.

They would have a trademark on the use of the word "Pimsleur" in connection with language aids. You really should just call whatever amateur project you are doing "NoseHair Bob's Khmer" or something like that and leave the professionals at Pimsleur out of it so that people don't get confused.feigeiway wrote: Technically, Pimsleur Khmer doesn't exist yet so they don't have copyright claims on "Pimsleur Khmer".

Seriously, is that Khmer transliterated and pronounced by a robot or something? America = Ah - meer - ah - key? WTF?
Anyway, thanks for that, you gave my kid and his two friends a good laugh.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
He's been trying to use the available voice sounds and did ask for people to propose their own spellings and voice recordings.
I am up to help with the pronunciation, but I have a noticeable barang accent.

Sure, it's good of him to try. However using an American fembot to pronounce Khmer is never going to work, at least not until after Skynet takes over.

After Unit 3, it stopped making sense to me. I'll need a native speaker to chime in and help out.
