No, it's the correct 'free'.
It's understandable but sounds very clumsy to me.[/quote]
Is there a better way you would say it?

Right to illustrate how horrible translating between these two largely dissimilar languages is, let me try with a few notable Khmer sayings into EnglishJamie_Lambo wrote:whats the quote being used for? it would help
ធ្វើល្អបានល្អ ធ្វើអាក្រក់បានអាក្រក់
Do good get good do bad get bad. Running out to get a tattoo of this yet in English?
ក្រមុំដណ្ដឹងម្ដាយ មេម៉ាយដណ្ដឹងចិត្ត
The young unmarried girl needs to ask her mom for marriage, the widow needs to ask her heart. Again, it goes from a clever little bit of khmer wisdom to something much less.
គេល្អគ្រប់យ៉ាង តែមិនមែនជាបង
He is good with everything but he's still not my older brother. This is a song lyric and I am purposely mistranslating បង a little to show you how meanings can collide.
The lesson is, you may want to leave the languages wild and free as well.

i was asking the OP that, as you know, there are many different words in khmer, that in English, mean pretty much the same thing, but in Khmer it depends on the context of the sentence to which words would be used, a quick example being the word "to know" Dung, Skoal, Jeh etc..
with his sentence different words could/would be used if he was talking about animals and not people, the phrase could become offensive if the other way round etc.
