Recommendation for slow-cooked lamb shanks?
Can anyone recommend a restaurant around the riverside that does decent red wine style lamb shanks for a reasonable price? I've had them at a few places before, but they are not on the menus now.
I thought Oskar would have them, but when we went a couple of weeks ago they weren't on the menu.
Appreciate any suggestions.

I’m pretty sure Metro TK has it on the menu... and I think the metro at the riverside may have the same menu.Nasty Canasta wrote:Can anyone recommend a restaurant around the riverside that does decent red wine style lamb shanks for a reasonable price? Aussie XL does a decent lamb shank.
They do it in either red wine or gravy.

Oskar should still have them. A friend ordered one a few weeks agoNasty Canasta wrote:Can anyone recommend a restaurant around the riverside that does decent red wine style lamb shanks for a reasonable price? I've had them at a few places before, but they are not on the menus now.

All the Metro restaurants have it, but I've got to say after having one at TK just yesterday I'd pass on it. Not quite sure why it has gone so downhill on this dish, but what I was served was clearly just warmed up, congealed fat still gloopy sauce & the texture just completely off. Unusual I have to say, the one I used to have on Riverside TK was excellent, fell off the bone & delightful. Plus side, the mash & veg was excellent, service spot on as ever, but that couldn't make up for a very poor lamb dish sorry.

nah thanks.
i still prefer the wild pink Atlantic salmon from the Australian branded tin made in china from various supermarkets in pp, sometimes it is even pink not gray still tastes the same though.
edit: got it figured now, wild pink must be what the chinese call grey

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
Spigzy, I did think of Metro, but both times I've been there I walked out disappointed. Aussie XL sounds reasonable but a bit away from where we are staying. Sonoma's rack sound nice - LOL.
Possibly an alternate.
HsRob, was it a special at Oskar and not a regular menu item?

Defo regular. I however haven't ordered it in awhile so maybe since I have seen the lamb shank last they somehow changed the menu.Nasty Canasta wrote: HsRob, was it a special at Oskar and not a regular menu item?

Not quite sure how good you are at spelling. LOLpatcan wrote:Ross of Matilda's Bar 104 St. Does a good shank...
Alas, 104 is a no go area.
Did not know this was a spelling contest? Try typing everything on a smalliphone...oops...10$ shanks once a month, Fridays 6:30 pm. Nomally it is pork for 5$ a plate on Fridays...No table dancing during the meals, just a bunch of tourists and expats catching up with the gossip and currrent affairs. Will ask him when the lamb shank meal is due.
