The missus has reminded me that I haven't taken her out for a romantic meal in months. I've promised to do that tomorrow. She wants sausage & mash. She suggested Walkabout but I'm not sure it's on the menu. Can I have a list of places that do a good bangers&mash (not Cavern)?

I was sad because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet

I was there for 3 months last year. Walkabout is definitely a more romantic location.

Empire does good bangers and mash as does green vespa-not sure how romantic the locations are though!

The problem is that most places stock Lanzis 'British bangers' and whilst I'm a big fan of his other meaty stuff, his British style sausages are way off target.

Where's Empire? Don't worry about the 'romantic' bit - after 6 years with me she has some pretty unconventional notions.

Next door to the late, lamented 'Chez Finch'.

Bricks or Peace? The latter would be, um, nostalgic.

Doesn't Randell still do them at Pelican pies, but they are to take home and cook, I think?

I said she has a kooky notion of 'romantic', but she'd kill me if I suggested that!

Bricks. (Didn't your missus use to work for the sex thimble?)

Yeh, at Peace, which is what I was referring to. So is Empire on the corner where that nice noodle place was, or other side where they used to sell expensive lagers?

Empire is where the expensive lager emporium used to be. A Filipino/German bar headquartered in Singapore - what could possibly go wrong with that concept?

The Empire does decent bangers and mash, also good fish and chips too, not a bad place to sit and eat.
