Funny that you of all people would prefer to line the pockets of the suits in one of the world's biggest beer companies - Or "evil capitalist blood-sucking pigs" as I imagine you would call AB InBev - rather than the guy next door trying to make a living supplying the local community with something different.. something not based on the "how much money can I make out of a product and how little can I put into it" model, but rather "how good can I make this product, using the best ingredients I can find - regardless of cost - sell it for a small profit and keep this tiny business that I love (see hobby/passion) from going under"..doktor_d wrote: Taste is subjective.
I'd rather drink warm overprized Ganzberg mixed with milk and prahok than cold free Belgian beer. I just can't stand the taste of Belgian beers..
I guess talking the talk and walking the walk is two very different things huh?

I wouldn't go as far as to say I plan holidays around it as a rule, but I think it forms part of most people's thinking- can you imagine a holiday with both shite beer and shite food?SullyofDoha wrote: Anyone else got enough of a passion for product that they plan vacations around the product? )
My own preference is for German beer with a personal favourite being a Kolsh in Cologne, but I do like the many varieties you find in the south, and the hofbrauhaus experience down there takes some beating. The Cannstatter Volksfest in Stuttgart and the Oktoberfest in Munich are dates certainly worth circling in the diary with friends/family.

Hey bozo...it is about price/profit/value for money.doktor_d wrote: Funny that you of all people would prefer to line the pockets of the suits in one of the world's biggest beer companies - Or "evil capitalist blood-sucking pigs" as I imagine you would call AB InBev - rather than the guy next door trying to make a living supplying the local community with something different.. something not based on the "how much money can I make out of a product and how little can I put into it" model, but rather "how good can I make this product, using the best ingredients I can find - regardless of cost - sell it for a small profit and keep this tiny business that I love (see hobby/passion) from going under"..

Decent beer at reasonable price wins over overpriced hipster greed/wanker craft beer every time.

What are you talking about you deluded meth addict? You're the one constantly whining about greedy capitalists ad nauseum on this forum yet at the same time you're buying their products.. lining the very pockets of those type of people you are famous of spouting out vitriolic diatrabes against. And to justify it to yourself you are making up theories about whatever you think is expensive must be overpriced and hence made by greedy hipsters. Which is in most cases utter bullshit of course.. It costs me somewhere between 2 and 3 dollars (for ingredients) per bottle of IPA brewed at home (I could brew a lager or a Belgian beer for maybe 35-70 cents a bottle.) And that's when I bring all the ingredients over myself and don't account for all the work that goes into it and the costs for electricity, water, etc. When these places sell a bottle of IPA for $3.50 I'd say they're not making very much per bottle, if anything.. Only someone with their head so far up their own ass as you have would come to such a ridiculous conclusion just to feel better about themselves for not being able to afford spending a little more on a higher priced product.vladimir wrote:Hey bozo...it is about price/profit/value for money.

And by the way.. there's nothing more hip in the craft beer community atm than Belgian beers. Belgian sours, lambics, tripels, gueuzes, quads, etc. Does that make you a hipster wanker?
Not everyone is obsessed with what everything costs. I buy whatever I think tastes good. Be it cheap Cambodia beer or IPA at Himawari or Botanico. All are what I considered decent beer priced reasonably. To me Belgian beer is hipster greed/wanker craft beer.
Like I said.. taste is subjective.

You might ad that it is also ironic how much the craft beer people love Apple products. It's bigger than Altria, Ambev, and Exxon...combined. They use the same factories and low wage workers as the rest of the bunch making products for 1/4 the cost. The EU says they cheated on 14,500,000,000 in taxes. So have another IPA with your craft beer fellas and keep right on spewing that anti-capitalism, Michael Moore rhetoric on you I-pooed.vladimir wrote:Hey bozo...it is about price/profit/value for money.doktor_d wrote: Funny that you of all people would prefer to line the pockets of the suits in one of the world's biggest beer companies - Or "evil capitalist blood-sucking pigs" as I imagine you would call AB InBev - rather than the guy next door trying to make a living supplying the local community with something different.. something not based on the "how much money can I make out of a product and how little can I put into it" model, but rather "how good can I make this product, using the best ingredients I can find - regardless of cost - sell it for a small profit and keep this tiny business that I love (see hobby/passion) from going under"..

Hahaha, me a meth addict. Even if I wanted it, how would I afford it? Oh, wait, I never thought about that...doktor_d wrote:What are you talking about you deluded meth addict?vladimir wrote:Hey bozo...it is about price/profit/value for money.

I support value for money. So, while Angkor draft isn't the best draft in the world, it's cheap. Leffe bruin is one of the world's top beers, imho, and it's $1.80/bottle.
So here's a challenge for you herr cocktor, explain to me why I should support gypsey hipsters brewing 'craft' (read poof) beer for $5/bottle, when I can find decent beer for $1.80/bottle.
Your economics borders on the insane.

Is there much Tiger Beer in PP these days? Where is it brewed? It is now cheaper than Leo in LOS, but it seems like the big two do their best to keep it out of the bars and stores. IMO, it is much better than Leo or Chang.
Yes, available at most bars in PP, usually in bottles or cans, some places have it on tap.thighlander wrote:Is there much Tiger Beer in PP these days? Where is it brewed? I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

If you get a chance, let us know which brewery it is from. Just curious. Tiger drafts are excellent, when served properly. They were getting 80 THB a pint at Robin Hood on sukhumvit for a few years..one on the better values in that entire area. Paid 108 for a two pack of large bottles at Tops a few days ago in Chiang Mai.PSD_Kiwi wrote:Yes, available at most bars in PP, usually in bottles or cans, some places have it on tap.thighlander wrote:Is there much Tiger Beer in PP these days? Tiger is brewed here in Cambodia, the brewery is just off NH1 about 10Km from the river.
They also brew Anchor, ABC Stout and Gold Crown there.

"We, the sons of John Company, have arrived"
Apple Bar on 172 has it on tap for $1 until 9pm, then $1.50. Black Pearl on the same street has it for $1.50 , and Frog Skin Bar on 5 street has it for $2. I think those are the best venues and the beer was always super cold, Black Pearl being the best. There are a few other places but they used to charge around $2.25 or so, and the beer was never as cold.PSD_Kiwi wrote:Yes, available at most bars in PP, usually in bottles or cans, some places have it on tap.thighlander wrote:Is there much Tiger Beer in PP these days?
