Went to Doors last night for dinner. The food was brilliant, service excellent. The Spanish chef even made a round through the whole restaurant asking if everything is alright.
Had
a jug of sangria, nice and fruity
chorizo, came with baguette, thin slices rather than sausage style
homemade Spanish sausage, excellent and on tasty bread with veggies and tomato sauce
Spanish omelette, a mix of egg and potatoes, thick, pie style
chilli garlic clams, served in a large pan, garlic and chilli not too strong, just right
meatballs, in tomato sauce
patatas bravas, tasty
rilled peppers, served slates and crispy grilled
All was excellent in taste and a good amount for the 3 of us. The bill came to 67$ which might not be cheapest for PP but I think it was good value for what was offered. Their lunch deal during weekdays is supposed to be great too.

Good Pho on Monivong, heading south past the rock about half a Km, on the right side. Called Pho Trung.Captain Bonez wrote:where abouts on st.51 is VIP mart? the wench was saying earlier she wanted to eat some pho today, but i have no idea where the good stuff isPetrol Head wrote:Vietnamese

cheers boss, i just got back form trying the pho at VIP minimart. i'd give it a rating of mediocre at very best. i guess i may sound like a snob but after living in saigon for a couple of years the pho at VIP minimart tastes like the slop tray from a real vietnamese pho restaurant.Jackal wrote:Good Pho on Monivong, heading south past the rock about half a Km, on the right side. Thank you so much! My better half and I love trying new Pho spots, restaurant or street cart. This one is actually very close to our house all things considered and I know pretty much the spot you are talking about, so I will look out for a Pho cartJackal wrote:Good Pho on Monivong, heading south past the rock about half a Km, on the right side. Jackal, do you perhaps know what time of the day or night the cart is around? I know some are specific to certain times of the day. Thanks
@Bosco- To answer your question, The Rock is a big ass night club that is located on Monivong SOUTH of Mao Tse Toung. So it is perhaps a part of Monivong that not a lot of people travel down? Anyways, I do believe The Rock nightclub is marked and will show up on Google Maps or whatever. Just search if you care. If you take a drive over to that part of town, The Rock is Massive and you really cant miss it. One of those giant Khmer nightclubs.
Cheers,
DM

Dude! Right on, it is all I order from there. The young waitress girl , who has been there for the past 9 months we have been going, just assumes I am getting the Lasagna, if I want something else, I tell her.ricecakes wrote:Orchidee lasagna. Fucking delicious. Such a great little place to eat. Stoked we found it.
I joked with my father when he visited over Christmas as we walked to L'Orchidee "A Frenchman does the best Lasagna I've ever had" I said. He didn't believe me until about 15 minutes later when he took his first bite.
Also, I agree with my Missus when she claims their Lok Lak is some of the best she's ever had. We often find ourselves trying new restaurants and I cannot tell you how many times we have finished a meal and both agreed " We shoulda went to orchidee" lol
Patrice is the name of the French owner and I never got his Khmer wife's name but shes very outgoing as well and she speaks damn good English.

It's a shophouse. Closes around 8.30pm, I would guess it opens early morning.DetroitMuscle wrote:

The Rock is a large Khmer KTV/club complex painted purple on Moniving Bvld. It's big and hideous and hard to miss. Good landmark.Bosco wrote: What's the rock?
