Fatboys
AC's position is a bit extreme but to provide some balance aren't those people taking out franchises for international chains also local entrepreneurs?
Personally I'm all for more choice. How can that be a bad thing?

I love fatboys! It's my favourite burger place. I don't really think of it as fast food. To me fast food is food that's made, well fast. But in a place like Fatboys you will have to wait about 15mns for the food to be ready just like you would in most restaurants. If it's anything like the Singapore branches, it'll have lots of options in terms of ingredients and said ingredients will be of really good quality. A burger is just like most dishes, it can be tossed in a minute or can be really well made. Fatboys is very much the latter kind.

Not the greatest quality but you get the idea. On top of the choices below you can also have the option of making your own with whatever ingredient you fancy.

Amazing how you, who are only around long enough to be registered on K440 for 18 months, know everything.splinter wrote: Because you're a junkie wash out who moved to one of the worst places on earth to get away with antics that aren't accepted by the civilized world.
I think you dig into horace's comment too much.alanclarke72 wrote:What's not to understand or dislike? It's called progress and development.
What they dislike is Cambodia changing from their 1995 idyll when their $1000 a month jobs made them feel like King of the Hill and they could lord it over the locals. Now they have been left behind in the economic race and they resent that locals get the chance to enjoy experiences in Cambodia that they themselves no longer can.
It's the same refrain everytime. Burger King, Starbucks, Dominos.
Simple. Stay away from the places if you don't like them but don't be such patronizing pricks that you think locals can't have access to them. As scoffer said in another thread, Cambodia has moved on and left these bitter people behind.
What G&T said - look what fast food has done to America and doing to Europe.
I don't get a hysteria over fast food venues, unless you are 16 years old.
Just like I don't get the "best burger" or "best fries" search missions and articles - they are junk food and and therefore it is an oxymoron.
Fast food is great hangover food (not because of the great nutrition it gives your body), but otherwise saying that it is the indicator of the country's development is only partially true: it indicates that large international businesses feel more confident in entering the local market, but not that it will be a great thing for the future development of the local population in the long run. I wish with opening all these fast food venues they would also educate people on all the pros and cons of consuming such foods or feeding them to their kids.
Otherwise I am all for the choice

Just looked back on this thread and all I said was that I didn't understand westerners getting excited about another fast food outlet which is pretty much the same way I feel about bowls, I just don't get it! Splinter not sure I deserved your outburst but make sure you introduce yourself next time you see me and we'll find out who's washed out, a junkie I was but at least I didn't kill my best mate.

I'd strongly advise against that splinty, he is not to be trifled with and can and will back up his words.horace wrote:but make sure you introduce yourself next time you see me and we'll find out who's washed out.
Hell, years back he walloped some Paki for trying to touch his pet Chihuahua. Hell of a story, yet another great expat yarn of lore.
I gotta look that one up and refresh my memory.
But if you feel so inclined, step up and get your fill.

Ahhh, now I recall. I did remember thinking that he deserved it. I think you said too that he threatened to call the coppers and whatnot. Silly bastard, that one.
