TV Club- Good Things to Watch

Postby pedros » Thu Dec 03, 2015 2:25 pm

My work internet has much improved of late, so find myself, between shuffling papers and shouting at people, downloading stuff to watch over the endless, yet dull, holidays, which I must spend at home on the farm with whale woman.

These can all be sourced on thepiratebat.se or other torrent sites. Lately, I have been watching:

Peep Show, Season 9, C4, the final series.

The Last Kingdom: BBC Game of Thrones meets Vikings.

The Murder Detectives: C4 Doco, compelling stuff.

The Alan Clark Diaries: BBC, (old) John Hurt as a Tory rudeboy.

Rick and Morty Season 2: Adultswim, insane sci-fi cartoon.

The Man in the High Castle: Not watched yet, but Nazis win the war and take over the US. Based on a Philip K. Dick book and has good reviews.

Anything else anyone would like to recommend/share?

I have recently been boring people senseless at how great it was to watch every episode of the Wire back to back. A wonderful experience. I've just finished Breaking Bad. Very good, but not up there alongside The Wire or Sopranos in my view.

Better Call Saul will be next, and I've just downloaded all three series of Deadwood.

I don't think I will ever watch another movie in my life.

Housos - (about bogans in Sydney)
Bogan Hunters

Black Mirror
Utopia (Aus) - bureaucracy gone mad
Trollied (UK supermarket sitcom quite funny)

I like Wheeler Dealers, but they should delete Mike and just make it the Edd show.

Deadwood is one of my absolute favorites. Ian McShane is bloody brilliant. Unfortunate that it doesn't have a proper ending as it was cancelled early but the show was nonetheless fantastic! Hell on Wheels is another one that is pretty good, based in the same time period.

This thread has reminded me that I must download the BBC adaptation of John Lanchester’s novel Capital. Great novel, one of the last books I read before my son was born and he took away most of my free time. Being aired at the moment as a three part series and (just checked) it's on kickass torrents.

Narcos - incredible new Netflix show about Pablo Escobar. Really, really good. Only one series out so far, but highly recommended.

Also +1 to the Peep Show recommendation earlier in the thread. Fucking hilarious British comedy - genius!

Yes Narcos was brilliant. I don't like the yank way of spinning out an idea season after season, with the plot lines getting sillier and sillier. I much prefer the British way of running a couple of seasons and throwing in the towel on a high note.

That's high on my list. I loved the earlier incarnation of the show where they punted the Charger.
