Talking of British TV comedies, does anyone know where you can watch the 2 series of Phoenix Nights online?
Never seen them all, but always remember the episode - Meet Sammy The Snake, being well worth watching.

Ugh. I agree with the reviewers. It was grandstanding, it was almost a parody but a poor one. It didn't know what it was, I have to conclude. Couldn't finish watching it it was so nauseating.andyinasia wrote:Just watched yesterdays Sherlock special. Oh my god.
This morning I read reviews from the Daily Mail and Express (the only ones online at the time). Both reviewers and commenters agreed, totally up its own arse, didn't understand a word of it.
For me, it's up there with the best Sherlock episodes, which is the same as saying a candidate for the best 90 minutes of TV ever. It's both as pleasurably indulgently fanboytastic as the new Star Wars, and an exemplary presentation of pure postmodernism. I guess you either get it or you don't.

Brian Pern.
Basically a mickey take of Peter Gabriel's career. A bit slow to start but it gets better with loads of cameo appearances.
2 series of 6 episodes & another one due to start soon, availble to download from all the usual places.

Brrrrrr. I can't help but seeing similarities with the Belgian in the news.

Reg (The story of Reg Keys who lost his son in the Iraq War and then went on to contest Tony Blair's seat at Sedgefield in the 2005 General Election)
Jericho (In the Yorkshire Dales in the 1870s, the shantytown of Jericho is the home of a community that will live, thrive and die in the shadow of the viaduct they've been brought together to build)

Just discovered BRAINDEAD, the series. It combines great depiction of the absurdity of american politics with the invasion
of space bugs that eat brains. The "previously on BRAINDEAD..." is sung! The first one, ep2 ends with the line:
"You know you had a lousy day when someone's head exploded on you"
Urgently recommended.
Already the Peter Jackson flic with the same name was dead funny, a zombie comedy.
Speaking of black humour: Dale & Tucker vs evil ist terribly funny too.

If you're not instantly hooked, like i was, then perhaps not. De gustibus...Gin&Tonic wrote: Should I give it another shot? Does it get better?
Really up to you. But when you've got some time to kill, generally do not distaste morbid, sarcastic humour,
why not give ep2 a shot?
