On August 7, Cambodia’s first lesbian bar, The L Bar, opened its doors to the public, providing a space for women who love and date other women to congregate.
“We decided that this city definitely needed a lesbian bar,” said Mathilde Thillay, one of the two owners of The L Bar. “We were wondering where we can go if we want to meet a girl without all of the mistakes and misunderstandings, and the answer was nowhere.”

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

Those columns look very phallic. They need to be removed.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Yeah, I'd imagine it's just like a giant lesbian orgy in the evenings. You might be able to convince them to let you in by wearing a skirt and some lipstick and telling them you are gender-fluid, and at the moment you happen to be a lesbian. If they kick you out you should be able to sue them for discrimination.spitthedog wrote:Cor blimey. Wouldn't mind being a fly on the wall in there hey!!

There was a tough as fuck mechanic type dyke chick who opened a bar maybe 8 years ago.
She was cool and the bar was really nice.
I found her crying her eyes out one night because some svelte little brown thing had done something. I can't remember if it was financial or sexual.
I guess that bar is gone.

That's a huge fit out for such a small demographic of Wimmins... hope they are targeting the heavy set, heavy drinking butch types cos those slender femmes, while prettier aren't going to drink enough woo-woos to keep a bar that size afloat.
I give it 6 months before the L bar is targeting the hipsters.

Clearly they didn't opt for stools that need pushing in....Lucky Lucan wrote:

I think you're fooling yourself to think it's a small demographic. I do question if Cambodian lesbians will want to "expose themselves" and go there just yet. Many lesbians around, just not sure if they'd want to congregate to such a place in large numbers. Either way, it's a market with a lot of growth potential.
Compared to the five gay bars which run on the same percentage?Chuck Wow wrote:That's a huge fit out for such a small demographic of Wimmins... hope they are targeting the heavy set, heavy drinking butch types cos those slender femmes, while prettier aren't going to drink enough woo-woos to keep a bar that size afloat.

I'd say these girls are onto a winner here if they do their marketing right.
None but ourselves can free our mind.

My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.

Great to know there is an official place for those people and their acolytes, less of a chance running into them elsewhere.
It's in the old Lakeside district, which doesn't help its chances of succeeding. I've been following the attempts to create an artistic community there, as a former work colleague was involved, but it doesn't seem to be working.
There are a significant number of Western and local junkies and iceheads sleeping and shitting in the streets. The drug dealers are still there and hassle anyone who enters the area. The French women who were the main force behind the attempted artistic revival have sold Cafe Simone and moved on, though the cafe remains open.
I doubt that L Bar will attract many of the hipster lesbian crowd. Despite its exclusivity, the cashed up dykes are more likely to hang out at trendier spots like Bassac Lane and environs, which has a significant gay scene.

It's going to flop within a year. I'm willing to bet money on it.
