If you want a chuckle, go read some of the excellent retorts from Brooklyn management to some of the fuckwits who leave negative reviews. Just click on the Poor or Average lists.
Keeping it classy whilst TOTALLY owning cheapskate backpackers, bogus reviewers and out of touch one-week-in-asia warriors.
GO THE BROOKLYIN !

Jon - Thank you for taking the time to humour us with your review. We do sincerely apologize for being one of only 13 restaurants and counting (Cafe Yejj, Spring Vale, Ichiban, Restore One, Sesame Noodle, Alma Cafe, Bella, Eleven, Jars of Clay, Daughters, Exotique, Buffalo Sister...) within a couple of blocks of Brooklyn, and understand your dilemma of having no other "choice" but to choke down on our average offerings. It must be quite emotional for you...dragging yourself in for yet another Cheesesteak...your left hand grabbing your right wrist in an attempt to keep you from making yet another drastic culinary blunder. The other customers dining in our "goldmine" obviously concur, evidenced by the forced laughter, upturned mouth corners and obviously pre-rehearsed, regurgitated compliments exclaiming such untruths as "Amazing", "Best Ever" and "Oh my God...so good!". Due to "lack of competition" alone, we also have been catapulted to the top of the Best Restaurants in Phnom Penh (out of ~800 restaurants) on this very website....go figure... And, please do introduce yourself next time you're in for one of your forced visits..we'd love to take a photo of you grimacing uncontrollably as you reluctantly choke down yet another Cheesesteak, we feel your pain Jon, we really do
------------------------------------------------
We most certainly don't expect everyone to love everything on our menu, but we know from years of experience and a TA rating that is through the roof that there are many delicious options to suite all tastes. Before laying judgement over the entire menu after having tasted one partial pizza, I encourage you to come back and try something completely different. It might just be that the Godfather is not your personal favorite, but the Brighton Beach BBQ or the Brooklyn Bridge might just be what the doctor ordered. Or, better yet, come try our award winning slow cooked pork ribs with homemade bbq sauce. We sell a few hundred orders a month, so I assume people are telling the truth when they say they are the best ever! In regards to your flat meatballs...there actually was a day back when the meatballs were round. After numerous complaints that the round meatballs were ending up on customer's laps or rolling to the side of a delivery box...instead of their mouths, we came up with the ingenious idea of cutting them into slices. It allows us to cover more of the pizza with "meatballs", without customers singing "On Top Of Spaghetti". Hope to see you again in the near future!
----------
We're sorry, as we wanted to respond to the allegations in detail, but couldn't take this review seriously as the reviewer has zero history on TA before this post, and the review is also promoting a competing restaurant with a similar menu item, for which we are quite famous. Additionally, this review is chock full of inconsistencies and misinformation and not worth going through and debunking one by one. We will continue to let our glorious reviews and packed dining room support our reputation as one of, if not, the best restaurant in Phnom Penh for Western style food. Come try for yourself and see why almost everyone says "Amazing, Awesome, Pretty Damn Great, Wonderful"!!

“An appalling response which I have never, ever felt so degraded...”
1 of 5 bubblesReviewed November 23, 2016
I made an inquiry for a group of 35 pax who will be travelling from Phnom Penh to Mondulkiri for a mission trip. Given the another 8hrs via road ~ I am thinking of ordering pizzas to eat along the way, hence I inquired :
- 12" pizza / 16" is for how many person?
- do you deliver to the airport?
- can we eat the pizza cold or keep it overnight?
More importantly, will you give me a special price for the pizza order so I know if this fits my group budget.
The initial response from Jay, explaining that XL can feed 3 people, so I need 12 XL Pizza. They could also deliver to the Airport for a larger order like this. and offered a VIP 10% discount.
I went on to ask how much will it costs me if I go with his suggestion? I also mentioned I have a budget of USD50 for this meal since its all self funded and our budget is very tight.
What took my by surprise was the response I received ....
"Your bill would be around $150-160 total. How in the world do you think we can make that $50? You want to feed 35 people for $50? I suggest street food at $1/plate...you will have money left over for some water bottles. Best of luck"
It's shocking to read the comments coming from a service industry and I am appalled with the response.
I would have given a second thought about their suggestion, but upon reading further, this is totally unacceptable, and I have never, ever felt so degraded.
Are you aware that you have offended not only me and my group, but also the people of Cambodia. Please before you write such degrading response, spare a thought for the locals who dine at your place.
Oh well, its just another pizza place and I am sure there are lots of better ones.

We are truly sorry that you felt surprised and degraded when we declined your generous offer of $50 for a $195 order that was already discounted to $160. Instead, we offered the advice of ordering inexpensive, hot and tasty, Cambodian street food, as an alternative. We eat delicious street food everyday, as do millions of other "locals" here in Cambodia, and they are never offended by the suggestion or opportunity to indulge in their favorite dishes. Again, so sorry for your sensitivity in matters of budgeting finance and cuisine referral....still wishing you, Best of Luck, now, and in the future.

USD50 for 35 comes down to less than KHR6,000 per pax.... not even enough for a full meat baguette from a streetside stall. That was really poor planning.

In theory, a pizza IS a loaf of bread however even Jesus would have trouble stretching a few pizzas that far....Hanno wrote:OK, so the owner is a bit of a smart Alec but 50 Dollars to pay Pizza for 35???? Given the name and the missionary activity, I'm guessing the poster is Singaporean. Singapore is one of those countries where service staff get treated like shit. My guess is, the poster was shocked that someone in the service industry would dare call her out on being a cheap idiot.

I would go nuts if I owned a restaurant in Cambodia and had to deal with the Cheap Charlies and people like this:
“Good food bad management. ”
3 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 week ago via mobile
Was enjoying a nice dinner with my family whilst other tables were around us and didn't really mind us until one of the managers came up to us to tell my youngest brother who's birthday it is to be less of a nuisance. Really pissed off my whole family while around us other people were being louder and other children were frolicking around way more than my brother was.
5/5 for the food
2/5 for management.

Thanks for taking the time to write this review. We are sorry that you feel betrayed by our management for doing his job by trying to keep some semblance of order. Unfortunately, you failed to mention several key elements of your description of the events of that evening. While it may have been your brother's Birthday, other customers were also trying to enjoy their meals. The lovely steering wheel toy with loudly functioning horn may have been a delight to everyone at your table (I myself am much more tolerant of my own child's screaming, than that of another), but the pained expressions on other customers faces prompted management to ask you kindly to stop. Had we not intervened, it surely would have continued ad infinitum. Loud, repetitive, ceaseless beeping and honking is not OK in a restaurant. It's just not. As a family, maybe managing the type of gift opened and used in a restaurant dining room could have been planned out differently. Talking and kids "frolicking" are normal behaviors. Laying on a horn for several minutes straight in a restaurant is not. We are glad you enjoyed the food, and apologize that we could not be more accommodating to your needs that evening.

Brooklyn Bistro also doesn't really like when people give actually good comments on their restaurant but give only an average rating
Thanks for taking the time to review. Sounds like you had an excellent time...good burgers, excellent fries, good value...yet, average review. Sorry about the ambiance, we tend to think it's more than adequate (attractive and comfortable) for burgers and pizza, and most people think it's the bees knees when coming off the dusty streets of Phnom Penh, into our clean, well lit, tastefully appointed, and air conditioned oasis. Were you perhaps looking to propose marriage to the burger versus just eat it? If, in the future, you need a more romantic, candle lit experience for your next burger, please inform us beforehand, so we can prepare a special room with mini-chocolates plsaced on fluffy goose-feather pillows and a turned down king sized bed with 1200 thread count down duvet, and of course George Michael's' "Careless Whispers" playing on repeat. And, because of your insightful review, we here at Brooklyn have decided to re-theme the restaurant after the very popular Japanese Love Hotels made famous in Tokyo...so, come in weekly for our changing decor.... Personally, I think the Middle Ages Bubonic theme in March is going to just slay the critics with ambiance. Thanks again for taking the time...your opinion is truly valued here.

“Expensive!”
2 of 5 bubblesReviewed October 22, 2016
Tryed this restaurant to getout of the routine of rice and noodles. They have huge burguers and huge pizzas (dont have the extra large, the large is enough), but it got really expensive. Not the prices from Phnom Penh.

Thanks for taking the time to come in for a feed after your stint of $1 street noodles and rice dishes of questionable ingredients. We went through extraordinary lengths to type out and actually list our prices on our menu, so that astute budget conscious travelers watching their pennies, can be forewarned that no $1 pizzas or burgers are to be had at Brooklyn Pizza. Our Royale Burger with 170gram, 100% Australian beef patty (imported), lettuce, tomato, house-made pickles, house-made 1000 Island dressing, sesame seed (imported) bun (flour imported) baked daily in our own bakery, and a side of hand-cut french fries (imported potatoes), costs a whopping $5.95. Understandably, this is an extraordinary amount of money when one is budgeting for a monthly food allowance of $60, but we like to think that splashing out on the finer things in life is what makes life so darn enjoyable. So, in addition to the awesome ingredients we source for our burgers, we feel that they are best enjoyed in air-conditioned comfort with ear soothing music, served by attentive servers and professional kitchen staff who have been trained to the highest degree of Western standards in hygiene and food safety handling. For all that we do, we feel our prices are exceedingly right and just. We also believe that if the $1 street food vendors could import and sell burgers and pizza for a dollar, they would. Best of luck on your journey and may you live in interesting times.
