Since a few months the Makro at Surin and possibly other outlets in Thailand received many Khmer for training. Funny to see their reaction once you talk to them in Khmer. They said first operations in Cambodia are somewhere around December. Many Khmer come over for hospital visits as well.
Is it open yet? Need 30k of nutmeg.
Please don't tell my momma I work in a oil patch. She think's I'm a piano player in a ho house.
they are in many places in thailand but cant recall ever buying anything from them mostly due to their out of town locations, plus they got a lot of more centrally located strong competition eg. robinson tops, tesco lotus, big C, plus all the 7-11 and family mart stores. 7-11 are just a short walk from anywhere central in most towns and they got most of what you want to eat 24/7/365 and other needs
no replying to those who misinterpret/misread what i write. this aint kindergarten

Careful, logos, sounding suspiciously like you're thinking about the money aspect, cue gavinmac.logos wrote:Otoh their pricing policies target small businesses owners, so they might give the Lucky & co oligopoly an overdue run for their money.
I've been here for almost 5 years, started shopping at Lucky on Sihanouk immediately. The place was pretty well-run at first, but it's been downhill for years - prices going up 30% from one day to the next, crowded aisles, dozens of stockers standing in those aisles blocking them even further, etc. Then they made it harder to even park outside and go in - my tuk tuk guy was ready to deck a parking attendant the last day I was there. That was the day they quit selling almost all the fresh fish. I quit going. Started going to Super Duper about 2 years ago. Loved it - wide aisles, helpful, cheerful staff, well stocked, good prices. Then they started bringing stuff from the US. It was always marked with a sticker, and the prices were very high. Now it seems everything is from the US, and prices are getting higher on most things. Still a nice store, with great staff, but it seems they're pricing for wealthy expats, and I'm not. So, a few weeks ago I went to the market at Aeon Mall. Great market, the bakery is tops. Not bad prices, nice shopping environment. I go there for fresh fish for my cats once a week now. The Thai Huot on Street 63 is the best for prices. Here's an example: Italian ground roast coffee, same brand, size, etc. at Super Duper, $12; Aeon has it for 6.63; Thai Huot is 5.63. I now go to Aeon once a week, Thai Huot every other week, and Super Duper a couple of times a week, although I'm very selective when I buy there.
I Have almost completely stopped using Lucky for much the same reasons as rgrowden. Horrible environment to shop in, something like a Budgens in the UK.
Earlier this year I bought a large chest freezer, the main reason being so I could avoid Lucky, which is 3 minutes away, and make a 15 minute drive trip to Thai Hout every couple of weeks and load up.
Thai Hout has the best all round selection and I like the French brands. It's more like a Waitrose than a Budgens.
Oh, and they charge the price displayed, unlike Lucky who constantly charge a higher price than is displayed. Fuck Lucky.

Of course they would do the opening ceremony at 8 AM on a Sunday. Hell, why are they even waiting that late? Should meet up by 7 AM, right? What else do you have to do on your day off?rogerrabbit wrote:It opens on 17th.
Lucky has been pulling the same sleazy stunts for many tears.
Scam No. 1 is when they display a particular product on sale, together with the cost saving. Their prominent display also includes multiple varieties of the same product by the same manufacturer e.g.coffee or biscuits that are not at sale price. Customers take them to the checkouts, thinking they have scored a bargain, but are charged full price.
Scam No. 2 is the return of their "specials section", now located next to the coffee and drinks. Items are displayed at a special price briefly. All price tags are soon removed and the items remain in the specials section. Customers take them, thinking they are still at a discount price. They aren't.
Can't understand the love affair some posters have with Thai Huot, particularly the BKK1 branch. On 2 of the last 3 occasions I have shopped there, I haven't been able to obtain a shopping trolley, because almost all are being used by the ignorant packers, who block the aisles constantly. Last week, I was ignored at the checkout, because the server and her assistant were too busy watching themselves on the new CCTV screens. They only served me when I threatened to report them to management.

Yeah, have to be careful in Lucky, I have noticed that they are often marked up as discounted but the price on the til has not been changed. When I am paying for my stuff I will mention everything on promotion just as she picks it up, and tell her the priceGilmore wrote:Lucky has been pulling the same sleazy stunts for many tears.
