Agreed, it's one of the cheapest beers on sale in the UK, horrible stuff.ReasonstobefearfulP3 wrote:Wow, that's about $1.25 too much I reckon.Steve Zodiac wrote:Hard Rock Cafe in Siem Reap currently has bottles of Tuborg on offer at $1.25 each, buy 5 get one free, not that I would partake as I'm not a Hipster.
Is it really classed as a hipster beer? It's just another cheap shitty beer brewed in Cambodia, about on par with Ganzberg
How bright are the lights at the new Hard Rock Cafe Phnom Penh?

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Decent Filipino house band there. Are house bands/singers the number 1 export of the Philippines or something?

The fucker at the Hard Rock SR is cheeky, I think they intentionally dont inform customers of the VAT charge on the menu page then slam you 10% VAT or something when you check out your bill.

Here's my review of Hard Rock Cafe. When you walk in at ground level, there's a souvenir shop and a door outside to a sterile and quiet but reasonably nice bar and seating area. Smokers hang out there.
The main bar and restaurant is upstairs. There was a live band playing at 7:30 p.m. and my first impression was that it was really loud for 7:30 p.m. Too loud to have a conversation while eating. The lighting isn't crazy bright, but it's bright, especially around the edges near the walls/windows, where they have pin lights in the ceilings. It looked dimmer in the center of the restaurant and around the bar.
I thought the wings were OK, the bruschetta had a nice garlic bread base but was piled way too high with butter/cheese and tomato chunks, nobody wants to eat that many tomatoes.
They have no coke. They sell Pepsi. $3 a can.
All menu prices then have 10% added for VAT and 10% for service charge.
The appetizers are pretty large and if you have two people you could share two appetizers and have two drinks and the total cost would be about $30.

Well. let's see. I'd have to put up with bright lights, loud music, not the best food, and, if I'm frugal, spend $30 for the privilege and pay at least 20% more than the menu price. Gee, what to do? I think not go.

Stopped by for a quick drink Saturday night, at about 11 PM. They had a DJ advertised as a Top 100 DJ in the world, who plays in Hong Kong a lot. It was pretty busy and very much like a club. Needless to say, the lights were off.
They've now opened the downstairs bar/patio area.
I ordered a Hoegaarden bottle and a soda water.
Beer: $5.50
Soda: $3.00
SVC 10%: $.85
PLT: $.03
VAT 10%: $.85
Total: $10.23
