Golden Sorya Mall Pub Street Launching
Golden Sorya Mall Pub Street Launching
That’s right, GSM is back, and louder than ever, on 31st May.
“P.P. Pub street Launching Event
Please join DJ Maily and Suffer Band on the evening of 31st of May, 2018”
EDM, food vendors, and in case you don’t know where it is, they’ve conveniently pointed out they’re in front of Heart of Darkness.

Sounds great I'll break out my best soiled wifebeater, cargo shorts and sandals and bring my best meth pipe to join in the action.
I would have thought any proper re-launch party of GSM would have to start at the traditional peak drinking time of 7:30am

What makes you say that?Miguelito wrote:This is interesting in that it seems to be targeting Cambodians, and not the general methpat clientele it became famous for. Has anyone been by it, how does it look like?
The picture that they shared on Facebook has only English text.
(Admittedly the post is in English and Khmer, but Khmer people only look at pictures on FB!)

I've been passed a couple of time the Home Food bar is in the same place with an upper deck now. It had the usual wifebeater wearing deadbeats and toothless meth whores as it did before the refit.
Which in it's defence it does look a lot better but Chkwoot's picture is a fairly accurate description
I was under the impression many units were still not yet let? Someone posted somewhere that as of 10 days ago Five of the 29 spaces had been leased, at rents from $1,000 for the smallest to $2,500 pcm for the biggest double-decker placesthat Home Foods have which is a lot of 50c angkors to sell.
Maybe the police will be doing regular raids there as they have been doing on the mini-marts of 172 picking up penniless, passportless losers and deporting them until they go somewhere else.
That whole area has been a network of vice and crime for so many years it will take more than a little refit to resolve it's issues of being the petri dish of Phnom Penh

The post in Khmer, and the comments to it have been Cambodians writing in Khmer. Also, I figured with the "EDM" music they're going for more of a container market type of feel.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote:What makes you say that?Miguelito wrote:This is interesting in that it seems to be targeting Cambodians, and not the general methpat clientele it became famous for. Here's a good article from Cambodge Magazine: Phnom Penh : Coup de balai sur Golden Sorya Mall -- Sorry, it's in French
They did give us (440) a shout out in the article though, although I'm not sure how I should feel with being compared to Bayon Pernik.
And they also report that rents for the bars is $900-$2500 a month, which seems high for a small open air bar there.

Haha, I almost wrote that exact same thing.tombraider wrote:at rents from $1,000 for the smallest to $2,500 pcm for the biggest double-decker placesthat Home Foods have which is a lot of 50c angkors to sell.
Where will be the place for them to move onto?tombraider wrote: Maybe the police will be doing regular raids there as they have been doing on the mini-marts of 172 picking up penniless, passportless losers and deporting them until they go somewhere else.

Cocktail bar (Suzie Wongs)
Oyster Bar (Shuck Oyster Bar)
Either they are massively expecting the target audience to change or these two will be pretty short lived.
Seems to be mixed messages having these next to Home foods which looks like the typical GSM bar, 50 cent beers and classy attire
Lina bar - This is what I was expecting most to look like

Prey Sar?
I pass thru there most days now they've reopened the 24 hour parking. The place does look a lot nicer than before but has the atmosphere of a conference halls such as on diamond island.
Not sure how they've come up with the pricing scheme and certainly can't see how you'd make enough money to pay that rental level.

No thinking at all about the pricing. Usual fucktardery and greed for immediate returns.dv8inpp wrote:I pass thru there most days now they've reopened the 24 hour parking. The place does look a lot nicer than before but has the atmosphere of a conference halls such as on diamond island.

They should have priced the units real low like 2-500 with planned raises after a couple years, to build up demand for the location and turn the mall into a busy place. Then and only then they might get away with higher rents. Doing so outright is commercial suicide.
