We will be publishing a review of King Norodom's Head in the next few days. I'm told it's a fascinating read.

At first i was happy finding the review of this book then until i read up to this part. i decided to stop to continue reading the whole review.
The king in question, in case you’re wondering, is the founder of modern Phnom Penh, so he matters. This far-sighted and generous monarch established his capital solely here so that future generations could speculate on high-rise condos with views of the Mekong.
This is absolutely not the reason that our king moved the city to Phnom Penh.

Not for the first time - here or on the tribute site - young Samouth completely fails to see irony when its slapping him in the face.

Of course, I am a fan of humor, but there are many other ways that you can make people laugh. I really don't think that it is a good idea to fuck up the authenticity of the history in order to make people laugh.andyinasia wrote:Kon Khmer wrote:At first i was happy finding the review of this book then until i read up to this part. i decided to stop to continue reading the whole review.

Yes, jokes that go over people's heads are the leading cause of the destruction of historical authenticity.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Don't say that i always fail to see the irony or so-called sarcastic. I do get what you all native speakers were talking about. I said it once and i will say it again and again. You can always make people laugh without having to fuck up any country's history. I don't like it when the writer fucked up the authenticity of my country's history to exchange his fellow big boy's laugh. i feel so sorry for the writer of the book who put so a lot of time and effort to get this book done. I guess he must had searched for a lot of facts to put in this book and then at the end, someone who maybe had finished reading this book writing a review by fucking up the fact and authenticity of the country mentioned in the book itself. This absolutely doesn't help promoting the book.alanclarke72 wrote:Kon Khmer wrote:At first i was happy finding the review of this book then until i read up to this part. i decided to stop to continue reading the whole review.

Please tell me what can people learn about the history of Phnom Penh by reading this review. FFS
Isn't like saying, Australia wasn't first inhabited by aboriginal people? This far-sighted and generous monarch established his capital solely here so that future generations could speculate on high-rise condos with views of the Mekong.

This is how we Brits do it
Or to teach history to the children:
Chill out man and get yourself a sense of humour
