hi,
any of you have some info / photo about the history of kampong phluk?
when this typically village was born/created?
Kampong Phluk history
I have also been looking (albeit not exhausting the world's resources) for historic info on Kompong Khleang a little further down the shore of the Tonle Sap.
I wonder whether there might be some French historical records somewhere?
Hmm.

I don't know much about them, other than that they are floating villages. Kompong Phluk is apparently mostly Khmer while Kompong Khleang is more Vietnamese. I doubt they have any great history, these are transient sort of communities. You'd have to go and ask the old folks up there.

They are both " stilted " villages, not floating. They don't move around.About 3000 at Phluk and 30000 at Khleng. Both are located at the end of Angkorian canals.Phluk on the Rolous and Khleang on the Damdek.Khleang is the largest stilted village on the lake.

fair enough, I didn't know that. A lot of websites mistakenly call then floating-villages but the the more authoritative ones say they are on stilts. In the flood season I'd have easily mistaken them for boats.henryhungfunny wrote:They are both " stilted " villages, not floating. They don't move around.About 3000 at Phluk and 30000 at Khleng. Both are located at the end of Angkorian canals.Phluk on the Rolous and Khleang on the Damdek.Khleang is the largest stilted village on the lake.
