Hi I'm seeking answers about my grandpa and what he did before the khmer rogue. Sometimes my grandma has trouble explaining it in khmer or english. I'm not expecting much but i thought I'd give it a shot.
My grandpa's last name was Hem. I don't know how to spell his first name with the English alphabet. He was born in 1941 and his occupation (as described to me) was that he was a royal monk of some sort. He was in charge of the monks in Cambodia. When the king had a birthday, or death, or if it was the New Year, or any other special festival, he was the monk in charge. He mostly spoke to the Mother Queen, Queen Monineath. My grandma told me that he was very much respected and loved by the people. So I'm just thinking that if he's so important then why can't I find him in history or anything on google? It doesn't have to be a full biography, but I thought I'd see a name or job title.

No idea, you'd need to supply more information. The Supreme Patriarchs of both orders here disappeared after 1975.
By the way, it's Khmer Rouge, as in French for "red".

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Can you spell his first name in Khmer? There might be records in Khmer language that don't exist in English.
edit. probably not him if he was born in 41" 'One of the leaders, Ven. Chin Channa used a megaphone to re- mind listeners of the example of Ven. Hem Chieu, the anti- colonialist monk of the early 1940s"
