This is quite a remarkable program which tries its best to give a positive angle to the disaster that was slowly unraveling at the time...

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Wary of Vietnam, admired de Gaulle, no talk of the American bombing, or Lon Nol who was soon to launch a coup against him. May have been an exercise to get sympathy/arms or at least to share his Buddhist Socialism ideology.Lucky Lucan wrote:This is quite a remarkable program which tries its best to give a positive angle to the disaster that was slowly unraveling at the time...
Laughed when he says Cambodians are not lazy ... they just work when they want.

Great find Lucky. Poor Cambodia had no chance sitting between Thailand and Vietnam in the sixties. Even if the Viets had achieved independence n the forties without the war they may well have swallowed up Cambodia later. The same with the Thai who without US involvement may well have grabbed back the provinces they were forced to relinquish post WW2.
Now the important questions, who was the interviewer and was Sihanouk's sports car a 1967 Camaro. I think there was a yellow RS or SS Camaro in one of his movies. And why did Tony Snowdon not have a camera or a krawma, de rigeur for photographers only a few years later and even into the present day.
Poor Cambodia was always doomed to be destroyed by the politics of the day but this programme was very prescient.

Fascinating.
No mention of the Khmer rouge although there was reference to a potential threat from Thailand.
