I think the key word is 'workshop' in which you learn (from a certified Sommelier) about whichever particular wine/champagne is on offer for that session. I don't know how the Intercon does it but at this workshop you are taught about all aspects of the wine selection for that day, from the harvesting of the grapes, soil conditions, difference between regions, pairing options etc, etc.vladimir wrote:Fee – US$40.00 for workshop including wine/champagne.
Intercontinental Wine and Cheese: $35
All this provided via group discussions, Powerpoint / video presentations and tastings in a relaxed atmosphere.
I get the impression that the Intercon W&C night is more of a social/networking event where you shoot the shit, drink and stuff your face with cheese.
Nothing wrong with that but if that is the case, then it is not quite fair to compare it to an option that offers an instructional and informational aspect for those not already well versed in the world of wine.
Just sayin'......

Just saying...
Intercontinental hotel - Worldwide, corporate, branded, high end hotel group based on true capitalistic values, utilising their clout to encourage wine (and possibly food) suppliers to promote their wares at a perceived very good value monthly event....
versus
Phnom Penh Community College - a small training and educational 'business' based on 'community' and common, no doubt socialistic values, that does not have access to the power of corporate marketing, and is a social enterprise trying to get a foothold into the local market....
Not everything can be judged purely on price Vlad...
The times they are a'changing.....
Just saying.....
