By Albert Jack - December 1, 2016
It was reported that tourist arrivals from China was down by between 60-70 percent.
An individual’s expense for tourism purpose of not exceeding 15,000 baht which is incurred this year can be used as tax deductible to be reduced from taxable income, said Prime Minister’s Office Vice Minister Kobsak Phutrakul on Tuesday.
He said the cabinet on Tuesday approved the tax deductible in order to promote domestic tourism during the high season which has already started.
Do you see any Chinese people in this photo?
Together with an earlier tax deductible introduced some time ago, the total amount of tax deductible for domestic tourism purpose has increased to a maximum of 30,000 baht.
Tourism business for the second half of the year has been seriously affected by sharp decline of tourist arrivals from China since the government’s launch of a crackdown against zero-dollar package tours from China.
It was reported that tourist arrivals from China was down by between 60-70 percent.
Where have all the Chineses gone?

Not sure how the tourism tax deduction works. Doesn't sound like it will make much of a difference though. Those Chineses sure love their group package tours. You wouldn't get me on a group package tour even under threat of having to date that unpleasant Kitten Charity person/poster.

'Ching Chong China men'
an awful lot of them down in Pleasant Sihanoukville, coach loads being bussed about the place , groups wandering on foot all over the place , 2 jets a day now in/out of the airport. These is tourists there are load more in various places used as "staff hotels".. guessing they spend their working days at online activities somewhere.
Its quite easy to tell them apart the tourists seem generally to be family groups or groups of females
the workers(?) tend to be groups of youngish males
heaps more of the tourist variety since the start of this month

The seldom females among these youngish males groups are mainly ugly cows.
Also, local ice cream distributors must be all smiles, Chinese always seem to walk sucking on one.
