Briton Dies 'Living The Dream' In Thailand
A British tourist has died while on holiday on the island of Koh Tao in Thailand.
Luke Miller's death occurred just days after he posted a message on Facebook saying he was "living the dream" on holiday.
"Can honestly say this new year I am living the dream of to the full moon party on a speed boat drink cocktails strawberry daiquiris living life to the full yolo so let's do this," he wrote.
It is not yet clear how Mr Miller died.
Friends have paid tribute to him, describing his death as a "shock".
A fundraising page has been set up to raise money to return Mr Miller's body to the UK.
Joanne Doe wrote: "To think we were enjoying your photos seeing you live the holiday of a lifetime. This is such a shock.
"Will never forget that mental Christmas party at ours! At least you were living life to the full. Thoughts are with your family right now and Erin Laird xxxx RIP Luke Miller."
A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are providing assistance to the family of a British national who has died in Koh Tao, Thailand.
"Local authorities are investigating the death and we will remain in contact with them."

pew, pew, pew, pew!
To be honest I'm surprised a great many more young British men don't die in Thailand and surrounds as the physical state some of them get themselves into accompanying a blase attitude toward risk taking behavior while they're "living the dream" begs for accident and misfortune.

I don't get this "living the dream" cliche.
It's like going to Ibiza just slightly warmer and further away.
Traveling around the world on a Honda Cub, or playing a professional sport, or the women's Brazilian beach volleyball sun lotion specialist, BTTC driver for VW that'd be "living the dream".

I lived the dream in Cambodia for many years and still do in Australia. But now I am old and recall living the dream in Thailand back in the seventies. I think that I shall live the dream forever until I expire and it's great. I have been very lucky through hard work and some luck.

No offence Ken, but you really have a habit of turning everything into a story about you.ken svay wrote:I lived the dream in Cambodia for many years and still do in Australia. Haha - my money’s on Playboy
I guess it's all relative.
What's 440, living the dream?
Employed outwith tefl.
Eating a higher class of burgers - " gourmet burgers" v fast food chain burgers.
Snobby beer v generic beer = a better class of inebriation!

Fair enough Pelican but I think I have lived the dream more than most here, now I just dream.

Koh Tao has had some bad publicity in recent years.
It even attracted the tag "Death Island", which seems destined to echo in eternity.
The Thais have had some obvious difficulties in trying to ease the concerns that foreign tourists have about safety. A significant part of the problem seems to be that the Royal Thai Police and the other Thai authorities are extraordinarily economical with the truth.
In a new and novel campaign, some caring Aussies have created a YouTube video in an attempt to help out. The campaign is novel because it is refreshingly honest! It is presented by Sydney actress Natasha Dai (with just a modest amount of satire). See what you think:
