Do you need to be lumped with a guide for Tibet?

my most likely doable route would be get visas in bangkok then head to mae sot border crossing from where i have been told and read online one can go forward to the major myanmar cities and then from there presumably to the indian border crossing also would be carrying enough cash to get through without having to use atms, but for me this route would be seeing more of myanmar than i would want, have been previously and left after about a week due to not liking the reception, was longtime ago now
other time i went that way it was flying to bangkok to nepal before it was struck by the destructive earth quake, still dont think nepal would be ok even now due to cultural destruction by NGOs

A couple of sites seem to state that you can cross into Myanmar at the Mae Sot, Ranong, and Mae Sai borders with a Myanmar e-visa.
''Myanmar's simple e-visa system is valid for travel through the Thai-Myanmar border points of Mae Sai/Tachileik, Mae Sot/Myawaddy and Ranong/Kawthaung ...''

entry at these 3 borders with a valid Evsa allows you travel anywhere currently open in Myanmar and exit at any open border (or by air)Fa Canal wrote:check that you can actually go onward from those other points and not just have to go back to thailand. dont know the current situationspitthedog wrote:A couple of sites seem to state that you can cross into Myanmar at the Mae Sot, Ranong, and Mae Sai borders with a Myanmar e-visa.

you can exit at Phunaron/Htee Kee (east of Dawei and west of Kanchanaburi ) as well, BUT not enter Myanmar there with an evisa, but need a visa issued from the embassy.

What months are considered the best n worst for visiting Myanmar? I gather the monsoon is pretty full on until the end of October and if one were to wait until then , then one would be crossing into NE India at the start of winter! Any idea on how cold it can get in those parts, I looked online but all I found was info for Kolkata ? Trying to work out the best time of year to do both Burma n NE India. I am a cyclist and it doesn't have to happen this year. Actually I am still planning on flying to Bangalore and spending six months in the south and then returning to BBK where I believe I must wait at least two months before applying for a new India visa.

You sound very bitter n twisted just like most of the Thai expats I have met. My question was about climate of which only Trump is capable of misrepresentation and being economical with truths.Fa Canal wrote:i have decide i am not going and so will let you discover the misrepresentations and half truths, economical with the truths that await you all by your self

Up to date info on visa. If you want to do this route from Thailand to Burma and then India you will need to have a visa in your passport not an evisa. The Indian embassy in Bangkok is no longer issuing visa to non Thais unless they have work permits or residency, which is the same as the embassies in KL, Jakarta and Singapore, not sure about Cambodia, Laos or Vietnam. Can only get an evisa for 60 days which is not issued at any land border with India.
Back to Indonesia I go and the cheapest flight I can find to south America.
