Canadia Bank
Canadia Bank
When I first arrived in Cambodia (2 1/2 years ago) I would be able to withdraw $600 using my Commonwealth bank card (AU) Then it went down to $450 and even further down to $300.Now this last week it was a maximum withdrawal of $150
Has anyone else had these same restrictions put on there card?
Been into the bank and asked, but stuffed If I know what they are on about.

Sounds like a problem with Commonwealth Bank reducing your limit, rather than an issue with Canadia. Probably worth talking to them in the first instance.

ANZ Royal charge something like $5 to use their machines.

I've experienced the same thing and I withdraw from a credit union in US.
Still, $150 a day should be enough for most folks, and they still don't charge for int'l withdrawals. I pop in to the atm every few days instead of once a week. I've started keeping a cash reserve at home just in case.

I experienced exactly the same over the past years...Dutchie wrote:When I first arrived in Cambodia (2 1/2 years ago) I would be able to withdraw $600 using my Commonwealth bank card (AU) Then it went down to $450 and even further down to $300.Now this last week it was a maximum withdrawal of $150

Sounds like a general problem when reading other fora. Maximum withdrawal with an overseas creditcard seems to be limited to 150usd.
And a daily withdrawal is no option since most of the overseas banks (issuer of the creditcard) will charge you for every international withdrawal (depends off course on terms and agreements).
I used Mekong Bank a few times during the last few days. Limit seems to be +500usd and the atm isn't informing me about any additional costs.
Vattanak is also an alternative but only acceps Visa, no Mastercard.
In case of, you're allowed to 'import' 10.000usd cash without notifying customs...

I blame those pesky thieving card-sharks, spoiling it for everybody (and their gullible victims).
I was able to withdraw my maximum daily withdrawl limit from my ANZ (Australia) debit card, by going into the Canadia Bank and filling out a form, Canadia charged me no fee for this service. Obviously was charged the foreign transaction fee from my bank, but better than only being able to withdrawl small amounts from the ATM.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

Yep. Its rude.Lucky Lucan wrote:ANZ Royal charge something like $5 to use their machines.
What's worse is if I don't use an anz-royal ATM with my NZ anz card I get a $5 fee and a $3.00 non-anz fee.
Yep, its Canadia restricting it not the international bank. The issue with the lessor amount is that whilst Canadia may not be directly charging you your home provider is in many cases with a minimum charge amount. One of my Irish cards works at Vattanac, big withdrawals possible no local fee.

I'll keep that in mind, about 6 years ago I remember withdrawing about a grand from my Irish account in one go from Canadia. I do some work for a French company that's based in Martinique who transfer money to my Irish account, so more recently, I tried to withdraw $500, and it said there was a limit of $250 or something, but I still got charged $4 or whatever just for the attempt. It's AIB who are charging the fee, but charging for a refusal sucks big time. I can't check any of my foreign funds either, unless I withdraw money, then it's on the receipt. Still beats the first time I came here when there wasn't a single ATM in the city....Bosco wrote:Yep, its Canadia restricting it not the international bank. Smile minimart,
From memory my AIB card didn't work at Vattanac but maybe it was an off day. Ulster Bank works for sure.Lucky Lucan wrote:It's AIB..
It all beats the often broken lift in the old Canadia building with the walk upstairs praying the credit card machine was working and that no other administrative issue got in the way of you getting funds.
