Transferring money from Cambodia to the UK
Going back to the OP's question: I set up a bank account at ABA with just my passport and requested a Visa debit card. I then set up a PayPal account tied to that card (PayPal will only allow you to use Visa or Mastercard in Cambodia, you can't link it directly to your bank account, unfortunately.). There was a minor glitch in that PayPal verifies the account by making a small withdrawal, and you have to check your bank account and then enter the code that was used. ABA does not display this code on your online statement like most banks do, so you have to actually call their call center and get them to tell you the code. I already had a PayPal account that was linked to my bank account in the USA. Now when I want to transfer money I just make a transfer from one PayPal account to the other, then withdraw it into my U.S. bank account. The fee is 4.25%. If PayPal ever starts accepting links directly to Cambodian bank accounts, the fee will fall to 1%.
Link no longer working so I suppose he no longer provides the service?
Shout out for Canadia.
Screamed across town on Thursday with a brown bag full of much more cash than I was comfortable with carrying and got there just as they were closing the doors. Had to beg them, point at swollen swag and say they couldn't put me back on the street with that.
Perfect, professional service and to my astonishment the money arrived in the UK the following day. Never known that sort of speed anywhere in the world.

Yes I'm still here and offering the fiat GBP/USD money transfer service between the UK and Cambodia.

Hi guys, wonder if someone could help me, I've recently sold a property in Thailand, and am finding it hard to transfer the proceeds back to England
Would it be a lot easier to transfer the money from a Cambodian bank?
I was thinking about making some trips to Phnom Penh , bringing cash with me,
Would I encounter any problems depositing $10k cash to a Cambodian bank?
I aim to do this a few times over a couple of months,
Any help much appreciated
Thank you

No. No problems. But it seems an unnecessary step. What problems are you having in Thailand?
Don't tell anyone when you are coming - there are well dressed Chinese couples prowling the streets of PP ready to relieve folks from Thailand of their cash.

I too don't understand why anyone would have trouble sending money from Thailand to the UK. I've done it.
Plus, it's easy to bypass your bank. Why not use an online system like Transferwise? They work from Thailand to the UK.

I've been told I need a work permit to send the funds back,
I have looked in to other services, transferwise, but they can't transfer money from Thailand to U.K, only the other way around,
It does seem quite an effort but I think it's the cheapest option at the moment,
Are there any bank branches at Phnom Penh airport?
Thank you
