Too busy counting my returns to waste my time with chump change from youRobW wrote:Last year you could on sums of 250 or more. This year I doubt it.Thrifty wrote:Yes, you have finally got one correct!
My spelling was crap. I will admit to my typo.
Do or can you negotiate your interest rate with the MFI's?
WRONG
Anyway. If you can hook me up with a 2 point better return than Prasac "offshore" I'll give you one point. Seem reasonable?
Best fixed deposit rates
Wait until ricecakes finds out about this thread. Then you'll hear what real returns are.
Get Ricecakes to deal with YPT and Robw, they're the experts. Everyone else is a Bullshiter or dodging Tax or is it just me.logos wrote:Wait until ricecakes finds out about this thread. Then you'll hear what real returns are.
Expert? Not at all chap. I was hoping you might throw me a bone regarding these extraordinary and now i gather highly secretive offshore opportunities, but clearly you don't have the time, what with counting your returns and posting.
Christ alive guys, he has already made it plain that he is not talking about offshore term deposits, which by definition pay miniscule returns.
How about we get back on topic of best term deposit returns in Cambodia and stop working out who can piss highest up the wall?

^ Still Prasac I think ( best. Perhaps not highest).
Looks like you pissed the highest in your special contrarian way.
And I still think Thrifty's talking shite.

I was hoping for a list of banks or financial institutions with comparative rates for fixed deposit in Cambodia.
Does anyone have such a list? If you do, please post it or advise me.
Thank you.
I have no time for bickering about offshore/onshore/who has the biggest genitalia.

The link below lists which MFI's can take deposits in Cambodia. Just check out which one pays the best rates and that suits your circumstances
I have found HKL and Prasac pretty good, all depends on the staff available.
One thing that I struggled with was trying to get money into them and taking it out later. Personally not a fan of carrying large sums in cash which they prefer.
This week I have been offered cars, tellers and security guards to transport cash, but no insurance cover if its stolen.

Now back to Rob, I give up on the boy. It just seems he aint too bright.
An earlier quote from Rob - If you can hook me up with a 2 point better return than Prasac "offshore" I'll give you one point. Seem reasonable?
This is what it actually means. One basis point is equivalent to 0.01% (1/100th of a percent) or 0.0001, in language that Rob may understand NOT MUCH!
Rob, you can also increase returns OFF SHORE through gearing, I can get USD at 2.42% and GBP at 1.46% per annum.
So I actually looked at the newly adjusted rates (after the government imposed limit) the MFIs were offering and they're not that much different across the board from a few years ago.
Got a mate who fixed at 12% over two years (AMK I think) and unbeknownst to him the lady ticked rollover or continuous reinvestment. He's quite happy to let it rollover but they keep ringing him asking if he'd like to change!
And to answer the ops original question, bloody google it!

The AMK 12% was on 36 month terms.YaTingPom wrote:So I actually looked at the newly adjusted rates (after the government imposed limit) the MFIs were offering and they're not that much different across the board from a few years ago.

They adjusted their rates about 3 months ago, quite substantially, and for the same term it's now 9.25%.
You should tell your mate that if his accounts are rolling over they are rolling over into accounts with the new 9.25% rate. I've had a few that have done that.
(All new accounts are at the new rate, regardless of opening them fresh or rollovers). http://www.amkcambodia.com/amk-en-fixed ... t-196.html
Same happened at VisionFund, I opened a 36 month at 12% there two months before the change. The account I opened is fixed at 12%, new 36mth accounts are at 9% now.
Midway through last month Kredit adjusted their rates. They too used to offer 12% over 36 month, it's now 10.9% (which to best of my knowledge is the highest rate now available).
Most of my Riel is in Prasac over 36 months at 10.3%.
Oh ok. He seems to think that the rate he got would be fixed if it was a rollover, or whatever it is called.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
Interestingly the rates for $ fixed term deposits haven't come down much, if at all. Amk left theirs unchanged iirc.
